I went to school with my friend Charlie from First Grade through High School. Charlie joined the U.S. Army while I went on to College. When I dropped out of College after my Sophomore year, I worked in armed security at some rough places, and I became well known for what I did. I went back to school after a dozen years and finished my Baccalaureate. I still had security recruiters calling me to supervise their accounts; people all over Eastern Connecticut were still giving them my name.
A recruiter called me one afternoon shortly after our 30th High School reunion. I told them I was in IT, but I had reconnected with a guy who would be perfect when he mustered out of the Army. With more than 25 years as an MP, Charlie was their guy, but he wasn't back from the 'Sandbox' yet. They called his wife -- Charlie's former supervisor -- and hired her on the spot. When Charlie got home she hired him as her #2, and he was okay with that.
