Feng Mian was among several prototypes born in absolute secrecy 2009 under the Chengdu company name. She was raised under a shroud of mystery for most of her life, undergoing immense training, testing and modifications before finally making her appearance to the world 7 years later. Like most prototypes that are the first of a new generation, being the first of her kind in China, she suffered from jealousy and persecution from her older, contemporary comrades, even garnering a cruel (though ironic) nickname that played on her actual name; "Fangzhi", or "Imitation". The skepticism and cruelty of her contemporaries didn't dissuade her or her siblings in the least.
Feng was one of the first of her kind to officially enter service in 2017. Although she has a few malfunctions in her manifest, this is all due to the late-life modifications she underwent during her testing and development, issues that are being resolved progressively, and she's suffering from fewer and fewer of them. Unlike the Russian Su-57s, neither she or her kin have had a proper chance to shine just yet, but she feels it will come one day, and hopefully not in a way that'd lead to all-out war.
When she isn't putting on the face of a straight-edged, militaristic individual for the press, she's easily very playful and energetic. She's heard plenty about her Western counterparts, and watches them all with both caution AND curiosity. Her handler is the daughter of a CDL party member, so it goes without saying her handler's patriotism rubbed off on Feng, and unsurprisingly, she'd possibly let it show when in the presence of foreign aeromorphs.
GRAH! Finally this is done! Since it's debut, I've longed to make an official debut for a J-20 aeromorph, just as I have the J-31 as Zhu Ya! But never got around to it. The closest I've done was in this pic with Sam here a few years back. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/24044209/
This actually was perhaps the fifth attempt I've made to try and give Feng a debut, as I was not satisfied with the previous drafts with her, as I wanted to get a pose that caught most of the details I wanted shown off, but also still come off as hot AF. Now, I think I've finally landed it. I think the pose and angles could have been better, but I need to learn to stop worrying and take chances sometimes, work with what I've got.
None the less, I'm proud of how this turned out, and do hope to feature Feng in future works. :3
Aaaand I know, my Chinese translations may be off here. I did a lot of this on the fly. D:
