Big lore dump incoming, skip it if you don't care! XD
Arashir Bahir Kor was the last great king of Sirath, the city where Shadi currently lives, before it was conquered by the human empire of Elaris, and later invaded and colonized by the empire of Laatven. When in the year 1384 Arashir met the first ambassadors of Elaris, his kingdom was not in the best shape, since it was in the middle of a costly war to stop the advance from the north of the fierce lizard-like Sa'jiir.
Arashir had never met humans before, and accepted help in term of military support and resources in exchange for great quantities of gold. What he didn't know was that the Elarians made the exact same offer to the Sa'jiir, and once the two sides had bled each other out, the Empire decided to strike.
The Kingdom of Sirath was conquered easily thanks to the superior technology, and king Arashir died fighting after refusing to surrender. His son Navid, still a child back then, was allowed to stay on the throne as a vassal of Elaris. During his reign numerous rebellions occurred, due to the fact many Ajshar citizens saw their lands and shops taken from them and given to human settlers, and this often caused the Elarian empire to repress the non-human population with all means necessary.
After the Laatvian-Elarian war in 1434, Sirath was taken by the Empire or Laatven, and things got even worse for the conquered Ajshar and Sa'jiir, who were subjected to an even greater oppression. King Navid, now adult, tried to organize a resistance against the human domination, but after 2 years he was defeated and executed together with his whole family, with only one of his children surving. The year 1436 was the definitive end of the Kingdom of Sirath, which is now a Laatvian governorship.
The last surviving member of the Kor dinasty, Arash Kor, was hidden by Ajshari loyalists and he currently controls a small part of the slums of Sirath. It is likely local authorities know who he is, but they tolerate his presence, since he never showed any interest in expanding his small "kingdom".

Sorry for the horrible wall of text, but sometimes I enjoy writing about my setting's lore! ^^
In any case, after all the pages and sketches I posted I decided to work on a few colored drawings. I needed a bit of variety, and I was also afraid my submissions were starting to be a bit repetitive. Besides, I really felt the need to draw one of my super-detailed armor concepts.
Hope you like it! ^^

The king of the slums as he is often called, it is any wonder if he will try to rise up like his father before him? Or alas will he be swept underneath the sands under the tyranny of the humans of the Laatvian Empire? Only time will tell, but as what we can see for now, the forecast is far from optimistic my friends.
Love you lore tidbits.

Oh yeah, you finally drew Ajshari king! Woooo! And I always thought that Laatvia ns conquered his kingdom, not Elarians! And you never said that Arash is a heir of the throne! That sounds cool and dramatic! By the way, am I right that he loves males? One your drawing was about Arash's "friend", if I am right.
"Sorry for the horrible wall of text, but sometimes I enjoy writing about my setting's lore!"
Oh hush you, it was hardly a wall, and it was a fantastic read! I want to know more, and I am delighted by these names and factions you made.
At first i was like "WOO!" When you mentioned the Laatvian's wiping the Elaris kingdom, BUUUUUT that faded fast when you mentioned how it got even worse... Can't we all just, get along?
Yea right, people are too violent, cruel and stupid. But still, fascinating read, and I look foreword to this, "king in rags" character, and his introduction to your work. I adore his outfit, and as mentioned, the bird on his arm. That looks like one of those nasty Romanian falx blades, a very sinister and intimidating looking weapon, but here, far more elegant and beautiful looking.
So much to take in here. Usually, I am not fond of very ornate armor, as it's just so impractical, and you see ridiculous stuff flooding the fantasy world market, but this looks very realistic.
I am not fond of it, in terms of general infantry use, due to the intense labor it would take to repair such a piece, but for a noble, a officer, a commander, ornate armor can be helpful in discerning rank... Coarse, the enemy can do so, but, hey, looks nice.
I love realistic looking pieces, this has a very beautiful Eastern feel, with Arabic and Indian elements, like that mace hanging on his hip, but just the imagery and style of it, all very beautiful, and even practical, with the chain protecting his torso, and plate protecting even more, nice work on them pauldrons and, well EVERYTHING! I never expect anything of people, but with you, it's become a habit of always being dazzled and delighted.

Thank you so much man! ^^
Yeah, the Laatvians were even worse than the Elarians. The good thing is the Elarians are now taking a new stance on the whole non-human issue, and granted a lot more rights to their citizens. This way the Empire of Elaris received a lot of immigration of non-humans looking for better prospects, and that lead to more taxes collected and more soldiers for the wars (even though the humans didn't like the sudden "invasion" of other races).
Yeah, I also generally don't like super-ornated armors, but he's royalty in the end. Rich people generally had extremely decorated weaponry in the past.
It's indeed based on Indo-Persian armors, good catch! ^^

Ah, I was going to say, I found the way the Elarians conquered the two, to be interesting, but if I were in charge, I'd try to make them feel welcomed, and a part of something bigger and greater than themselves, give them a feeling of unity, in a united empire. But, that is just me. I really can't wait to see more of these races and empires show up in your work, it's quite exciting!
Well I may not like super ornate armor, but this just, doesn't FEEL like it. It's ornate to be sure, but it's both practical looking, and very beautiful, but it just does not give off a feeling of looking "gaudy and extravagant" to a degree where it just looks gross, rather, it's very beautiful, but he looks like he's pretty well protected, as well as looking very beautiful.
In all, that armor would probably be a huge pain to mend, with all the gold highlights, but it looks like those could be interchangeable, making it easier to fix. Like that disk in the center of the chest, if that got dented by a spear, I'd be more than a little upset if I was the smith who had to fix that after the battle. But, if that piece could be removed entirely, and a new one set in it's place, I think that could be a very innovative way to cut down on tedious repairs, maybe that could be a helpful feature of Sirathi armor pieces.
I got to say, I love those bracers so much, there so beautiful, the pale, polished "Steel I imagine" with gold trim and highlights, you have such a skill for producing beautiful, yet practical armor, you never cease to amaze or dazzle me.
