THE FOREST APPLIED SCIENCES DEPARTMENT
WADJET 2 - MANNED EXPLORATION PROGRAM
After the success of Project Wadjet, plans for manned missions to universes outside of the local cluster were underway. However, due to the vast caches of data retrieved by the TARP probes, a year-long program was conducted in order to create The Forest’s manned and unmanned exploration programs. The most obvious, and biggest, first target for universe exploration was the universe cluster designated “Haven”.
Finding an opportunity, The Forest created two programs, these were Haven Observatory for Projected Exploration (HOPE), and Haven Observation by Relayed Unmanned Systems (HORUS).
The HOPE and HORUS programs are one of the most well known programs of The Forest, have inspired and influenced numerous other projects, and continue to be operational since activation 14,981 years ago.
The following individuals were encountered, interviewed, and with their consent, information gathered and archived by The Forest Expeditionary Units. These individuals ended up giving insight and understanding of particular aspects of their worlds within the universe cluster designated “Haven”:
Name: Taruth
Sex: Male
Species: Ibis God
World: Unknown/Refused to disclose homeworld, Taruth’s Library
Description: An archivist and historian who is also an avian Physical God entity rated 9.6 on the Sourceweaving Index. Taruth was discovered by TFEU-9 when they were sent to investigate an anomaly, now known as Taruth’s Library, that was detected by HORUS-3. It was then that Taruth was encountered when Researcher Nikholls attempted to interact with a data-stick from one of the library’s trillions of shelves. Unable, or refusing, to speak verbally, Taruth relies on a massive variety of communication techniques, all indicating that he has encountered many other trans-universal travelers before. Currently, Taruth is allied with The Forest, and is the first Physical God entity to have done so in a benign and friendly manner.
Name: Her-Own-Shadow
Sex: Female
Species: Great night wolf
World: HOPE 989 i
Description: A huntress of the Shadowclaw tribe, who was rated 7.9 on the Sourceweaving Index, a record surpassing that of Neraaki a year ago. Her-Own-Shadow provided TFEU-6 valuable insight into the mechanics on how low-tech societies could attain powerful sourceweaving abilities, an example of which is the use of a mixture of powders and paint to create a powerful, and adjustable source of heat for use in a wide range of applications.
Name: Wasuralan
Sex: Male
Species: East Jawaraga hawk-eagle
World: HORUS 319 d III
Description: Encountered along with a war-band by TFEU-12 while on an archaeological exploration on ruins that, unknown at the time, belonged to the Jakaw people. Initially hostile due to accidental tampering, and perceived looting, of his people’s ancestral site, Wasuralan and his band eventually maintained non-hostile relations with TFEU-12 when Head Xenobiologist Tafrahgel succesfully performed peaceful psionic communication. This encounter resulted in a heightened interest on the large distribution of avian species throughout the Haven cluster, and improved survey procedures as to avoid miscommunication with native cultures.
Name: Kayzun
Sex: Female
Species: Humanodraco
World: HORUS Æ916
Description: Encountered by TFEU-4 while on a survey mission, Kayzun is a shamaness and witch doctor of Irulaowin descent, whose ancestry dates to roughly 978 years ago, and is a member of the fifth discovered humanity analogue on an alternate Earth within the Haven cluster. Kayzun has an alarmingly large mental cache of information regarding her world, and understanding of technologies thousands of years ahead of her time, with the cause of this being an inherent psionic ability passed between generations, resulting in her Sourceweaving Index briefly jumping from 1.9 to 8.0. As of now, Kayzun has agreed to share information that may be of interest, and has expressed interest to be a record-keeper working alongside with TFEU-4.
Name: Lahungrususaoro
Sex: Female
Species: Southeast Pacific Buranowaya
World: HOPE Æ1021
Description: A warrior-queen, who was 7 months pregnant at time of encounter, of the Balungduk tribe, and first encountered member of the sixth discovered humanity analogue on an alternate Earth within the Haven cluster. During the relatively peaceful encounter with TFEU-13, DNA testing, source tracing, and physiological comparison resulted in the interesting, and startling, discovery that the Buranowaya were far more distributed in the Haven cluster than previously thought, and were not only not limited to worlds with conditions similar to Komoyawora, but varied in general physiology and appearance as well.
Name: Pag-asa
Sex: Female
Species: Northern Haribon
World: Tehav
Description: Encountered by TFEU-12 on an expeditionary assignment using prototype Sense-Nullifying Active Protection (SNAP) gear. Pag-asa is a nomadic woman from the Hanginhanginan people who maintains a friendly relationship with her guardian Kawa, a water drakon, especially since she had recently given birth to her first child.
Name: Kawa
Sex: Male
Species: Northern water drakon
World: Tehav
Description: A water drakon who demonstrates a high degree of mastery with his species’ breathe ability. Kawa acts as a guardian to Pag-asa, whom he has formed a close friendship with. Unusually for an individual below 9.0 on the Sourceweaving index, Kawa was able to detect, and react to the presence of TFEU-12, even when they were under SNAP gear. Surprisingly, however, Kawa appears to have been awaiting non-hostile contact, something that was achieved when Commander Bishop and Head Xenobiologist Tafrahgel initiated first contact under discreet, and favorable conditions. As of now, Kawa provides unique insight into applied sourceweaving abilities, geographical data, and Expeditionary Units are advised to only make contact with Kawa during emergency scenarios, while his rather odd friendship with Commander Bishop and HX Tafrahgel is allowed but closely monitored.
Ever since the first manned explorations into the Haven universe cluster, the lessons, techniques, and discoveries have since been applied to all other projects done by The Forest, and will continue to be done so for years to come as The Forest expands across the multiverse.
