Some bugs like to bite people. Unfortunately for this little one, he found an animal who likes to bite back.
So this is what's known in RipRoarRexian circles as a lesser-spotted 'quickie'.
Well, 'quick' in one sense at least. Anyone who remembers Volume III of my Great Unfinished Collection might recognise something of this image. That's because, as is my usual 'workflow', I actually started this all the way back in 2015. Instead, it's quick because of the amount of hours that were spent on it.
It started with the top panel. I can't exactly remember how long the original pencil drawing took, but it wasn't long given the toony style. I know I scanned the drawing in mid-June 2015, redrew and rescanned some of the face a few days later, and slapped on a few quick flat colours. And then, for the next three-and-a-half years, I did nothing with it whatsoever.
Why? Well two reasons. For one, I wasn't quite happy with Timon's face. I know I still haven't yet got the knack of drawing Timon truly faithful to his original style. And secondly, I rather suddenly lost interest in the idea. So it entered my Great Unfinished Collection that very same week, and then went completely untouched... until yesterday.
I mentioned as part of my much-discussed 'comeback' that I was strongly considering uploading more works-in-progress and old or abandoned projects, and indeed I still am. In truth, I was actually getting ready to just upload this picture as an 'unfinished/abandoned' piece. Even so, I didn't feel I wanted to leave it with a blank white background, so I spent about 15 minutes mucking around recycling chunks of jungle backgrounds from some of my old pieces.
Again, I was preparing to upload it like that. But then I got curious about what the picture would look like with a bit of lazy quick shading on it. So I messed around experimenting with a bit of blended shading mixed with some old-style cell-shading that I haven't done for years. Before I knew it, I'd had fun playing around with it for just over an hour and ended up with something that didn't really look like an 'unfinished/abandoned' piece any more.
Then I remembered something. In my original plan for this project, it was going to be a two panel piece. But in all those years, I never even got around to starting the second drawing. So I quickly scribbled a second panel on paper, scanned it, coloured it, and within two hours or so, I'd got my two panel finished piece.
No progress whatsoever for three years... then a completed 'comic' in about four hours. Not bad really.
It's nothing fancy, certainly not my finest work by any means. I'd consider this more of a revived oldie than a true 'new' piece. But rather than condemn it to the ignominy of becoming part of my Scraps gallery, I thought I might as well present it to you all for what it is: A nice bit of low-stress, low-effort cartooning. Hey, who knew I could still do that!
I'm sure there's a chunk of my watchers who only follow me for vore stuff, something I am still very much into even if the long absence of such content from my gallery might suggest otherwise. Funnily enough, my previous vore piece was also my last Timon piece, the four-page comic 'A Lunch Between Friends'. (I've got a weak spot for Timon vore, in case anyone's failed to notice - there's something quite irresistible about such a casual creature cruncher.)
In writing this description, I thought I'd take a look back at when that comic was submitted, and I got a bit of a shock. By a complete bewildering coincidence, that comic was dated December 22nd, 2011. Exactly seven years ago to the day. Maybe there's something about this time of year that brings out the meerkat lust in me...!
I mentioned in my last submission that I felt there might be more activity to come from me before the end of the calendar year. Amusingly, this picture wasn't even on my radar when I said that - it's a totally accidental bonus. The project I was actually intending to finish next may well still be forthcoming before the end of the year, but even if it isn't, I'm confident it won't be long before you hear from me again.
Scared yet?
In any case, that's probably it from me until after Christmas Day. So let me take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas - and it's lovely to be sharing it with you folks again.

There's always plenty of Rexar to see! https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery.....r/50637/Rexar/
Heh - it's difficult to please everyone with my gallery. There's lots of people who are probably only watching me for smelly feet, others for stomping/crushing, others for vore, a few for scat/fart, a few others for armpits/musk and probably further people still who just like the Snapshots series. I could draw more of all of those things, but there's never enough time.
That expression is nothing short of awesome dominance. It's great to see him having some good fun with his food, breaking it down, cracking it apart, all sorts of things~
The amount of detail that you put into your descriptions is a ton of fun to read through. Seeing through your thought process, how you can easily pick something back up and keep at it, it's inspirational. Hope you have a great holiday though RRR!

I'm glad someone bothers to read it...!
Thanks! I often just take the submission description as my opportunity to splurge my frustrations and make excuses about the bits I don't like. The evolution of this one was quite nice though, given how quickly it happened.

OMG four new amazing works from an amazing artist in the same month!
Every time you upload something it makes me so happy really :) I've been a fan of yours since 2010/2011 when I used to constantly visit your site every day as well, and then your FA, and I'm so glad to still see you this active so many years later!! and seeing you creating a Twitter account and all, it makes me so glad already following you there since day one of course I've read all of your journals and descriptions and I understand it won't always be like this but still you're so beloved here that anything that you post receives so much praise and comments, its unbelievable considering the content but you always manages to accomplish it with every one of your uploads, simply amazing.
Taking the opportunity that I'm already writing a long message here, I wanted to ask you this for a while now: have you ever considered doing sketches as commissions? like many other macro/micro artists do. They can be either black and white or flat, I believe that could be a great way to both manage to be more active in the community and finishing stuff sooner while at the same time earning money from it :D and you know how much money you would be earning if you opened for commissions hehe. Now, I also read that you don't like posting "unfinished" work, so I know you probably aren't a fan of the sketches idea, but have you ever considered or think you might be able to consider it in a future? even if its something that you could open like for just a month only?
Oh, or even just a Patreon or Ko-fi, which you could just use as a tip jar in case commissions are an absolutely "no", have you considered it as well?
Anyways, about the picture itself, you're so good at drawing facial expressions! you always pull off some of the coolest evil faces. And giving a nice (and sexy) twist to a well-remembered scene from our childhood, I like that kind of concept :)
It's also always a pleasure to read your detailed and extensive descriptions and journals, I enjoy that really, goes to show how much effort and dedication you put into your art, rather than the typical "Enjoy!". This is how descriptions should be used! :D and its not just with the descriptions from the artworks, you also do it with your profile information, putting description to your folders, etc and that's very appreciated.
I never write messages this long but you're something special so that's why I do it from time to time
Huge thanks for everything! and Merry Christmas!

Heh - thanks, and the same to you!
As for commissions, I often get asked this, but I have never taken any kind of commissions and I don't intend to. I just don't want to be paid for my art. That, plus I hate the pressure that a payment would place upon my creativity. With how long I'd been absent from the fandom recently, it summed up how unreliable I would be as an artist taking commissions.

That's pretty understandable! I asked about it because I always tend to have this feeling that good artists should get rewarded with money haha ^^ I guess this also means that you're probably not a fan of tip jars like Ko-Fi? its just an optional thing which artists that don't take commissions or don't have a Patreon tends to leave on their profile, since its not obligatory to donate you won't get that feeling that people are paying you to access your art, and every now and then you can make some nice additional bucks with it hehe.
Of course this is nothing more than just a friendly advice, if money is a no to you then like I said that's totally understandable and respectable
Keep up with the awesome work, buddy!

Re Brush types, see my previous comment on http://www.furaffinity.net/view/297.....#cid:140058631
The foliage background on this pic was recycled from a few older pictures I'd done jungle backgrounds on before. It's basically just two or three layers of flat green shapes with a bit of shading applied and then a Gaussian Blur added to soften the appearance.
I actually can't quite remember how I did the zigzag line on this, but I suspect it was just using a line tool to draw two zigzags then filled in the space between them in white and blurred it a bit.
