Karpak approached the young Lion with his paws behind his back and a mischievous smirk on his broad muzzle. Dajan smiled. The Bear's sweater had rode up his belly and exposed a sizable stretch of furry fat. Dajan cupped the dome and then let his fingers crawl up the Bear's chest. Karpak closed the distance and cupped Dajan's chin under a knuckle. Then he brandished his find: a sprig of mistletoe. Dajan's ears went flat with embarrassment, and Karpak's smile softened. "People will see," Dajan whispered.
Karpak leaned in close. "Yeah, but it's just mistletoe. People will write it off as the old Bear just trying to get some action."
Dajan relented and let Karpak tilt his muzzle up for a slow close-mouthed kiss. His lips were warm and smooth. And as their mouths mashed together, Dajan wondered if it would be so wrong for people to know they were together. He understood Karpak's reservations though. They were so different. Old and young, big and small, fat and thin, crass and classy, and the list went on, but it was all those differences that Dajan valued so much about themselves. But for now, this kiss, in the twinkling lights of the Christmas party was enough.
