Sir Lucian Ravenmad, at some indeterminate time, is in the Master of Elfhame's study, and the topic quickly turns to a story involving Sir Lucian and a certain trickster fox we all know and love (?).
I put the "(?)" there, because certain inn patrons might not agree.
All in an explanation why the word "steamer" makes Sir Lucian shudder.
Much thievery from WB cartoons here, just so you know.

I chose mate' for a few reasons:
(1) There's a whole ceremony and set of rules in the preparation and sharing of mate' that would likely greatly appeal to Sir Lucian.
(2) Mate' is traditionally sipped through a metal or wooden straw, so that would be very convenient for Sir Lucian and his masque.
(3) Mate' is a bit of a salute to artist Leo Batic, an Argentine who loves mate'.
(4) Mate' is a plausible substitute for tea, which is good for Elfhame.
