My original comment was sarcastic, but there are suggestions later in the comic that the humans are descendants of a more advanced civilization. Like the scholar guy talks about their ancestors passing down things like germ theory. There are also some mentions of a few technological artifacts.
Whether this extends to the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals I don't know.

Wow, what an interesting matchup!
I mean, sorry Elim, ow and all that, but Kass vs. Brakka is a pretty even but also complicated hypothetical fight! Brakka is probably stronger than Kass and actually used to fighting in a yinglet body, but he probably picked up his fighting skills in a very rough way and mostly by himself, so he probably relies mostly on one or two tricks and on surprise (as suits a yinglet), whereas Kass has a human soldier's training. Kass also has some war experience, even very specific experience as to his buddy Elim getting injured, and probably has the right instincts to not freeze, hesitate or panic, instead being likely to switch to mental fight mode pretty quick, which is probably more than Brakka is going to expect from any yinglet, especially a female. Brakka also presumably wants Kass alive for information, in addition to whatever instinctual aversion to harming their females that yinglets may have, whereas Kass will probably not be working under any restraints at all. If the fight turns deadly than either of them might also instinctively cut loose with the yinglet summoning scream, which would be bad news for Brakka since any other yinglets who see them fighting will certainly side with the girl. On the other hand, Brakka has a vaguely pointy metal stick! But it might get stuck in Elim, and/or Kass might pick up something to even the odds.
Place your wagers, ladies and gentlemen! Betting on ying-fights is a fine old val salian custom!... I'm pretty sure.

That's true! I'd forgotten about that. That makes things a lot more dangerous for Kass. There might be a bit of a balance against it since those kids and the clothes hanging in the window suggest this is a well-populated and reasonably law-abiding street, so someone is very likely to notice a guard being shanked. With the size difference, any adult humans around might even come out to try help directly. So, Brakka and his boys will only have a limited amount of time, which is interesting because with his own war and injury experience, Elim might remain usefully active for a while - he didn't even realize he'd been stabbed at first and was able to speak a little, so that seems likely. They'll probably try to just grab Kass and run, but Yinglets don't seem suited to catching and holding a creature the same size as them. Kass can probably outsmart them if he keeps enough of his mind to, but that might not be the case.
On the other hand, Kass seems to have some yinglet instincts that appear when he doesn't think too consciously about what he's doing. So, if he does go into some combined human soldier yinglet ultra instinct rage, there's still some chance he could just thrash them all by himself.

I'm betting on Kass. Brakka may have the surprise advantage, and a weapon, but Kass has all the things you just listed, plus he's already subconsciously stressed the fuck out. Kass might rip Brakka limb from limb, even with all the strength of an angry chihuahua.
Or, Elim could just fall backward and crush the little bastard. =P

I KNEW I HAD THAT LITTLE SCOUNDREL PEGGED! This is very interesting for me, because I have been trying to motivate myself to do a little fan comic of this wonderful series, and without spoilers (should I ever get around to actually launching it), I was going to have this little fellow land a blade on someone . I thought this little louse would be the kind to jump someone with a blade. However, he might not know it, but I'm going to make a claim now: his life is not going to last very much longer. While his effectiveness as an assassin is unquestionable at this point, he's just assaulted someone in an official uniform, in broad daylight, in a street where children play (which leads me to believe someone would be there for supervision), and to top it all off, he's a member of a species who has a very poor social standing among others. The only question now is will he be able to kidnap Kass before he's run off, or will this be an attack he's forced to abort leaving Kass to try to keep it together and retaliate. On that note, if he is forced to flee, would he go after poor Lopin next? Either way, an absolutely thrilling addition to the story so far!!
Very, very good layout with this comic and excellent build-up to this moment while also having it as a surprise. I love that the shock and horror of the characters are accurately reflected for the readers following the comic. That was pulled off phenomenally. And the fact that we see children running around in this comic leads more to the sudden shock at the end when Elim simply feels a kid had bumped into him with his toy sword. All of the necessary elements were present. Excellent, excellent job.
Kassie is right I love kids too but lack of experience makes you legally stupid.
I'm hoping Elm will be relatively okay, it's too early I feel for him to die he's to good a character, not to mention one of the few characters who witnessed Kassie's transformation thus knows who she used to be. Elm is the main person Kassie can talk too.
And even if that other Yinglet has a small gang or is part of a rival tribe of jerks' he just made the wrong enemy who will stop at nothing to get back at him I'm not talking about Elm but Kassie.

Unable to comprehend. Reality slips away.
A giant fairy with blue hair, wearing a purple and green dress appers in the middle of town.
Walks towards Elim, through houses without doing any apparent damage to them, and heals him.
Then she takes Elim and Kass ti fairyland where they lived happily ever after, eating cupcakes and-
WTF just happened? Did Brakka drive that spike though my common sense as wall as Elim's back?

That asshole needs to be stomped into a bloody mess for assassinating kass best friend. Hell, can the yinglet outrun yannet? She doesn't seem to sleep and I'm sure she can track by smell. The fucker doesn't know the ants nest he's just shanked. The enclave and the house Ivenmoth will both be looking for this scav since he's abducting the ambassador.
now why is brakka or whoe ver attacking was he mentioning somthign some where else or is he trying to go after lopin? and attacking the big wigs is not good idea to get information really it will only get him killed in long run and no information or contact with lopin or who ever
For some reason I think Elim's going to go Nord from the Elder Scrolls online duel trailer and just look down and do a reverse kick to that little punk.
Also let us not forget that Kaz IS a trained soldier just not quite used to this body.
As for the wound itself I think its a mix of how clean and straight the blade is, and if there are some kind of medical magic stuff. If this was full hard fantasy, he'd be in for a very slow and painful death.

A bad place where I hit, going through the intestines ... As there is no "magic" for that, I wanted to bleed to death.
ps: I mean because, when going through the intestines, it's only a matter of time to suffer a serious infection ... no need to say what that organ contains, a lot of sh ****

"Muahahahahahaha! I'm zhe one Zhat's behind everything! Now zhat I've stabbed your friend, you'll be too blinded wiz rage to notice zhat I'm leading you to a trap!"
*Two seconds later*
*Is being strangled with his own tail. "How is zhis even possible?!"
---
Is what I bet most people want him to do after such a long time seeing him, but he's smarter than that sadly...

I'm surprised that didn't hurt more when looking at the pointy object in question xD Maybe Elim is just jaded. Luckily he's used to being wounded and stuff. Unluckily he is still in risk of dying. I wonder if they got good doctors in this setting.
Also holy comments! That's a lot.

If people remember this is not elim first time getting injured from my understanding between the conversation between kass and elim
This would mean Kass has operated on Elim At least once or twice depending what got injury was before all this ..
Also for the record there been people that have survived being stabbed in the gut back in the days it usually depends if they get to a healer fast enough

okay so i have been searching around and good news and bad news
the good news is that given the size of the wound and the knife it's self as well as where he was stabbed he has a emmmm decent ish chance of surviving (also knowing that he has survived far worse thanks to the last page) even with medieval teir surgery (since surprisingly enough they actually knew a fair bit about how to ya know stop people bleeding and shiz not so much on the point i am about to bring up in bad news)
the bad news is that infection is one hell of a bitch and i doubt that knife is very sanitary given the grubby bugger using it as well as the people that will probably end up treating him lets hope his immune system will save him for a second time.

I have no doubt Brakka is a bad dude. It's apparent from his attitude and the way he talks to others; he's an asshole which is what sets up your usual villain. Only his motivations will make him more defined and that I eagerly want to know.
With that aside, I did not expect Brakka to pull off something so bold. For one, he straight-up murders an Ivenmoth recruit in broad daylight and in the middle of an open street. Though, if you look at things more thoroughly, Elim is a recruit after all; his death will mean little to Viracroix, and guards may not find it in their best interests to pursue him for that unless, of course, Brakka absconds with Kass who is in fact a high-ranking official. Depending on what Brakka wants from Kass, he might want an exchange for Lopin, and then it would depend if Kass would give himself up just for Lopin to have who-knows-what happen to him under Brakka's control. Be damned if that ever happens!
At this point, it's pretty clear I'm not the best at predicting, but I give it my best shot. Hell, I knew my theory from two pages ago wasn't gonna happen, but I threw it out there anyway. I saw it as a slight possibility, but at the same time I was wondering how would that even work. Still, I figured Brakka would go with something more subtle and not straight to the point: pun was half-heartedly intended. I might be clinging to a child-like innocence. However, even though I never mentioned it before, I have had a subconscious thought telling me Elim might die (subliminal message recieved?). Although, I thought it would be after Kass had come to fully accept his new state as a yinglet through Elim's constant support and dedication. It's always to soon. Nevertheless, I'm not entirely convinced Elim is going to die (I mean, he will. He's a human afterall; gods don't bleed.), but in all honesty, I have never had a clue of what is what.
For two, I'm aware of how dangerous yinglets are, but I still believed the more subtle route was the way to go. If Brakka's already an exile, then why draw attention to himself by committing a crime?
Either way, I really didn't see that coming. I know Brakka is going to strike, but not how and when. The kids make for quite the diversion. Not only that, the dialogue serves as another good distraction, and this also includes the dialogue from the page before. While it may seem pointless, it actually serves to purposes. The afore mentioned distraction as yet another look into Kass's perspective on the world, and his much needed support from Elim right before he is mortally wounded!
Anyway, I think it's about time this comment ended. Finally, right?
