As fall gives way to winter, the temperatures have been dipping lower, and that always means sore throats and sniffles. Be sure to stay warm somehow, whether by wearing a buddy as a shrug, or just owning a million scarves like I do.
Wearing clothes also helps with that.

I painted this one almost entirely in grayscale. Most of the colors come from texture overlays, a lighting layer or two, and a couple of color balance and selective color adjustment layers. Another thing I often use (though I didn't on this picture) is the gradient map feature. That can help tint an image in interesting ways that you wouldn't always think to try when painting the colors by hand. Hope that helps ^_^
Yes, A lot, TNX (Even if i dont know a WTF are you talking about, but thanks for taking the time to answer, i seriously apreciate it dude ^^)
But seriously i need to try to draw and/or paint in computer, im behind in photoshop :/
TNX again, im going to try those things (if someday i learn) ;]

I'm always happy to talk process, and if you're curious to see it broken down step-by-step with lots of pictures, there's always the tutorial book I wrote <3
SOMEone had a little power-up there, didn't you?! This is way subtler than your usual, and with a palette you generally don't aim towards. Really soft and lovely. Gentle gradients are an absolute bitch. There's something kind of Parrish-like in the approach though not at all in the color. Really really nice.
Thanks, dude <3 I mixed it up a little in the brushes I used and a couple of technique/process bits along the way, just to see if I could get something a little softer/more transparent. I'm curious to see if I can approach a kind of glaze layer equivalent in digital, although that does seem like it would have limited applications when painting fur 9_9
Glad to hear that at least some of the experimenting worked! It was fun to do something cute <3

I'd say it was pretty successful all around. That black arm is delicious in the subtlety of its musculature. Perhaps limited applications for painting fur, or then again you can redesign the topography of some of your subjects, making them fluffy in some areas (such as the ruff of the wolf's neck) and letting the rest of the body go smooth. Dunno, but you keep opening doors, dood!
Hearing the word manimals instantly reminded me of Danimals which lead me to google image it and discover this: http://danielricardoteran.files.wor.....o-danimals.jpg
Haha, it's never natural ^_^
I used five or six different textures on this one -- I find the best way to add visual interest without throwing my values and contrast totally out of whack is to add texture layers in pairs, set to blending modes that do more or less the opposite thing to the image. So like, I'll add a scan of some cardboard and set it to color burn to darken things, then add a texture I grabbed from some website of some paint and set it to overlay to brighten things back up.
I don't really have any one go-to place for textures, unfortunately. Mayang's texture site was a huge repository, but it went under a while back. These days, I'll just google for textures and any number of nice sites come up offering hi-res images that are free for use <3

Thanks, man ^_^
I think there's something really neat about super smoky eyes -- I don't envy chicks the expectation that they wear makeup every goddamn day, but it would be cool if guys could occasionally bust out the guyliner without it having to be some big statement. It's just pretty <3

Thanks! It was fun playing around with a softer painting style than I'm used to. For a long while there, I really wanted each brush stroke to feel heavy and juicy to get it to feel more like acrylic painting than digital, but I'm starting to come around to more of a compromise that adds some of the softness and transparency of oils. Hopefully that'll add a bit of warmth to things ^_^
Hehe, thanks <3
And I'm definitely still doing stuff! A good bit of what I've been painting recently just can't go up quite yet, whether it's the first half of some collaborations I've been doing, or cover work for books that haven't come out yet that I've been asked to sit on for a bit ^_^

Love the textures! And for some reason the slightly open mouth of the black one really adds to the piece. Along with the eyes of the lighter one looking at the viewer, it really seems like we've stumbled onto something serene, comfy, but slightly secretive :P
Awesome job, love it!
