With "Super Bowl LIII" mere hours away from now, I thought I'd post my latest offering for (the 'sweeps month' of) February...
A few days earlier, on January 30, 2019, I'd attended a meeting of Scrabble Club 276 at the Veterans' Park in Lauderhill, Florida. There, club president Sandee Bloom offered a prize for all present members: a pair of small football-shaped bowls, and a bag of Bugles(R) brand snacks.
Because the 'theme' of this week's member is "Super Bowl LIII", and the two NFL finalists - meeting in Atlanta, Georgia - said prize would go to the player who would come up with the highest-scoring word - during Games #1 and #2 - that contains the natural lettered tiles 'P' (for Patriots) and 'R' (for Rams). And, by 'natural', that means no 'blank tiles' are to be used for both the 'P' and 'R' in the winning word...
Needless to say, I was expecting one of the usual Scrabble(R) experts to come up the winning word, instead of a novice such as myself...
Well, as luck would have it, on my very first turn - upon pulling out my first seven tiles from the bag - I got both the 'P' and 'R'! And it was simply just a matter coming up with five other letters that would result in forming a 'Bingo word' (a seven-letter word that would score me 50 bonus points + the point value of the word I had made)… and, sure enough, I came up with one!
And you won't believe the word I came up with that night... GIMPIER!!!
Following Game #2, Sandee used her digital camera to take a picture of me with said prizes (for the Scrabble Club 276 Newsletter, at a later date), After that, I'd asked her to use my smartphone to take a back-up 'photo-op' - which you are now looking at...
Enjoy the game! (I know I am, with my newly acquired snacks!)
This 'photo-op' will remain in my 'Gallery' until July, 2019, when it (and other pix) will be transferred to my 'Scraps' section...
