Being overworked, stressed, and loaded with responsibilities doesn't necessarily reflect your best demeanor. Sure, she might be cold, but I don't think this scene is enough to go on to say that with certainty.

honestly we don't know if that was a deciding factor in it. some men, gay or not, will commit to a relationship even if they are unhappy because it is the right thing to do. I think for the most part it was a matter of her priorities and his simply were never in the same place. you could see from this page alone that she puts so much effort into her job that she all but neglected his happiness. She barely said more than two words to him. When you are together with someone, especially when you are (were) married with kids, you need to put a pin in work when you are together even if it's just for a few minutes because it is important to give your undivided attention to your SO, otherwise separation is bound to happen.

There can be a lot of factors that can cause someone to neglect their familial relationships. In her case, as a working woman, it may be that the pressures of competition have caused her to - without noticing - slip into this passive state. She probably isn't aware that that's what's happening. Of course, she may have always been this way, but I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Do ex-spouses go through more stress than spouses? Just something to think about.

Well, I'd say she cares about the girls. She seems rather cool to Emery. Not outright cold, though. They married way too early, had kids, then SURPRISE! Your husband is gay! I can understand her still feeling hurt over this, especially since the comic is set in the past, so the breakup may just be happening. He still loves her, but only as a friend. He realizes this.

It's a crappy scenario for all parties involved, in my opinion. =/

So this is the woman he didn't want to hurt anymore when Andy was in his office. She seems a bit uninterested to be hurt too much by the divorce and him being gay. She seemed more interested and friendly in the office scene.
