Well, Elim being stabbed can cause a panic attack. Everything else? Hardly. Kass is still has a human intelligence and for a human yinglets are really not impressive. Which means Kass can overlook an actual danger from yinglets, but he is also likely to be unfazed by an actually dangerous yinglet while fearing equally dangerous human. I think that his appraisal of a situation as "embarrassing" and "like being held up by a bunch of children" is honest and not an empty bluster (which does not mean that he is in no danger, but he is honestly unintimidated).
Geez I wonder if his own mind will literally explode when he finds out that it turned Kass into a female Yinglet. Though it looks like this Yinglet is actually working for someone bigger too or stole it from that big person since he shouldn't be stressing out like that if that's the case.
Also anybody else get a feeling that an anime moment might happen soon when Brakka tries to look into Kass' eyes to see if he's lying about that next piece of information only to become intimidated and afraid when he knows he's telling the truth about everything and he's in a world of trouble.
That strike (with fingers curled but the knuckle joints straight) is actually used in some martial arts. It is supposedly more effective (because force of the blow is concentrated on a smaller surface) but also more risky (it's easier to break your fingers).
But since forming a proper fist should be impossible for a yinglet it seems the only way to punch.

Valsalia uses realistic biology whenever possible, so no, instincts are not mind control. Some other yinglet running around may come to Kass' defence (and even then may be confused since he presumed that attacker would be non-yinglet), Brakka's collaborators may be mildly discomforted but will do nothing. Well, they may decide "he hurt the female so fuck this asshole" but that would be a conscious decision, not instincts.
I zhink I might have just figured it out.
Zhat Zhing is a artifact zhat creates FEMALE YINGLETS. Alchemy, or magic? Who knows? Val has been beating us over zhe head with zhe lore about zhe gross inequality in zhe sexes. Wizh ZHAT ZHING zhey could create females to fill zhe gaps zhat genetics has not.
I'll bet monies zhat is what is going on.

Okay, so Brakka must know something about the artifact because his initial reaction to what happened to it isn't, "What do you mean it exploded?" He instantly recognizes it as the truth and knows for some reason that's bad. To say he's aware that it can explode because one before it has caused his presumable transformation, would he not make an assumption that possibly Kass has transformed into a yinglet since Kass knows that it, well, exploded.
Can't say that I'm going to get an answer to that question anytime soon; however, I find it more likely that Kass will make fun of Brakka for not understanding why the information he just fed to Brakka is so damn important, which could potentially get Brakka to finally explain himself a bit more.
