I always find it a bit amusing that all these old headstone tell you when a person died, but not when they were born. They have their age, to be sure, but it's not how we do things now. I wonder if it was because records of birth weren't always available.
I've been watching this show on Netflix, TURN, about spies in the Revolutionary War. I recall that somewhere there are two headstone of British soldiers killed and buried by the Americans in some battle. It says on them, "In life our enemies, in death our guests".
