Trying to do that 100 theme art meme. This is 22. Mother. The list is on my DA page.
One of the most heart wrenching scenes in all animation for me. Way before Mufasa died...there was...this. Saw this with my dad way back when, was actually the first animated film I saw in theaters. I loved it, yes, but eh...yeah. This part...there was a lot of boohoo. I also boohoo'd when Sharptooth died and argued with my dad afterwards that he could swim even with his tiny arms. Yes, I cried because the T-rex died. I REALLY like T-rex. LOL
Spawned from seeing a 34 on the movie on here somewhere...which, made me sad and want to watch it. And then I watched it...and BAAAWW...yeah. Shup.
Lemme kill you some more with the ending theme, which I listened to non-stop while doing this...and kept me in ETERNAL TEARS. Sometimes I get way to emotional with my art...maybe that's how I stab the emotion into them...

The original. IS. The best.

Beautiful portrayal of the scene ;3; You put such detail in with the inking, as usual your inks are love <3
I remember watching it with my cousin, Danielle and sobbing over it at age 6-ish. I've known the words of that Diana Ross song since then and I sing it in the shower to this day, almost daily. :B

Hehe, it's such a beautiful song...and like, I dunno, brings me back the, well, back when times when stuff was a lot easier I guess you could say. AH YOUTH. And good animated movies...
Thank you very much, as well. <3 Guh I can't even remember how old I was...but i'm sure if I looked up when it came out i'd know...lol.

Haha, oh yes...I was...when I first heard about a Sequel I was excited really...I was like "OHYAYLBT" then like...yeah.
Well, truthfully the second one WASN'T that bad to me, because it brought more to the Sharpteeth then just HEYLETSMURDEREVERYONE but...eh...after that it went really really URRRRGH...

Haha, had to give him claws...ish...they aren't that bad though. XD
And hehe, I cried on Mufasa's death too, but I saw that when I was older...This was the first thing I remember seeing that made me really realize what death was as a kid...I was probably around 6-7 I think...but yeah. It was years ago.
And thank you. :)

Really lovely, you did this so perfectly. I LOVED this movie when I was little, and I agree, the first one was THE BEST one. Damn Disney getting carried away with their crappy-happy cheap sequels trying to squeeze as much money from a good thing as possible until everyone hates it because they can't just let something go... I think they still make movies for this don't they? Bet their on their thirtieth movie now.
And it's such a sad thing that so many modern animated films will never have anything nearly as emotional as this scene was. The original Land Before Time, still has to be one of my all time favorite movies, and you gave it justice with this picture. Absolutely beautiful... You rock!
Don Bluth would be proud!

i seaw one time in YOUTUBE about Diana Ross talking a little about the song "If we hold on together" and then she sing the song in live, she have a full tears in the middle of the song, "oh man", she finish the song, she put all the feeling to the song, DIANA ROSS RULZ!, one of my best female disco singers =)
....>:
*Brb crying forever*
but yeah..it's sad Sharptooth died..but he was so pimpin' :U
As a child I liked the sequels tho...but stopped to watch after the 7th cose it was becoming shitty °__° now it's worse than ever...
The original will remain the BEST for sure <3

Gah, I remember this...Wish I could say I still had the VHS, but it went out with ALL the ones my grandmother had (LIEK OVER NINE THOUSAND)...
I loved the original movie....but each of the sequels just got worse and worse and continued to dumb down dinosaurs for progressively dumber children. :[

That song & this picture really brings back a whole load of memories when I was a child. I mean, I always used to watch The Land Before Time when I was a kid & remember that exact same scene, when Littlefoot was talking with his dying mother before he started making his journey to the Great Valley. And then at the ending, with the credits, that song played. It's a really great song. I really loved the series when I was a kid, I loved the song, & I love this picture. Excellent job on this pic.
Beautiful scene from a beautiful movie.
I kinda feel like they ruined the epicness of the first with all the ridiculous sequels, but honestly I still watched a few of the sequels because, come on, dinosaur cartoons. Those are rare as hell.
And yeah... the whole "T-Rex can't swim with those tiny arms" was kind of fail logic because I mean, crocodilians swim just fine without using their arms.

it looks like a trace of the original only done in a different style, a style that in my opinion, isn't very good for this picture
the reason i'm making such a big deal out of this is because you're the first person to do fanart of this particular scene, and you butchered it. thanks for butchering my childhood.
you can block me now.

Huh? Lol, I didn't even see this comment until today, but I am sorry you felt that way, but eh. It's not that big of a deal really, we all don't share the same opinions on art and what is to be used as a style for particular pieces. That is why it is called fan art.
I don't really think you trolled, quite honestly, just gave your opinion. Which again, is quite all right. You are the only one here that apparently has a problem with it, but i'm not going to judge you or anything for that.
I used the original scene as reference, did not copy/trace. I wanted to see how it would look with my dinosaurs, and thus, did it. I am sorry your childhood has been butchered by way of digital art.
Take care!

a trace? Wow. All of the art on FA you could troll, and it hat to be one of the better ones?
Please post with your real account so art can be compared before claiming someone "butchered" something. Then you'll at least have some credibility on this. Until then, plz stay under bridge, troll. :)

I just got this on DVD, James Horners music to this is a tear jerker definately. First time seeing it in like 15 years, James Horner's music is what made me strugle to hold back the tears..bleh, remembering it is misting my eyes right now. Beautifully captured in this picture, can even hear it...*lets Horners music speak for himself* <3
Most heartbreaking thing about TLBT to me was that the little girl who provided Ducky's voice died shortly after the movie was filmed, I think her dad killed her. :(
And Elizabeth Hartman committed suicide a while after providing Mrs. Brisby's voice in The Secret of NIMH; she got too famous early in her career and had trouble adjusting to mixed reviews later in life. The stories behind the lives of the people who make these films are often more powerful than the films themselves.

Mufasa died: I cried.
Bambi's Mother gets shot: I cried.
Littlefoot's Mother dying after fighting to protect her only child: I bawled.
And I still do.
This is a beautiful portrayal of a scene that always leaves me choking on my snot and wiping away tears.
I get teary eyed just looking at this image. ; A;
