This place reminds me of my childhood when I used to jump through springs and explore the Palatinate Forest.
This is the so called Jumbo commission for TenkaiKitsune on FA. They wished a character of a friend to be in a forest near a waterfall and the first thing that came in my mind was this. I first looked through many photos to see if there are any good references. In the end I came across one that was taken in the Palatinate Forest - where I grew up.
I used to explore places like that often and could show you my favourite hidden ones in the wide forets area of southern west of Germany.
The dimensions of the painting is over 5000 pixel at 300 dpi. Weirdly, zooming in and out took ages but I could use the smudge tool extremely fast. xD

this reminds me of an experience i had one time a long time ago. i was walking by myself out in the woods, something i did often. as i was walking along i thought i heard someone playing a flute. as i kept going it kept getting clearer and more distinct. well as i came around a corner, there indeed was someone sitting on a rock playing one. he like i, had walked quite aways from the nearest 'civilization'. it was like the only perfect thing that could have made a perfect day better.
That's certainly a scene where I'd like to spend the day drawing or just doing nothing but listening to the water.
I gotta save this pic. I like the look of the scene so much that i may want to do something like it down the road.
God, I wish I could paint scenes this well. I sometimes use the smudge tool but it seems to take forever to catch up to my stroke(s).
