This was the last of the illustrations commissioned during my 2008 commission window by Cornelius http://corneliusvanrichten.deviantart.com/ for his characters, Meian and Houki-Boshi.
I had a blast with the idea on this one - the dragon has just unleashed quite the inferno, and appears suitably pleased with himself. Reducing a swathe of jungle to a smoldering crater of molten earth was surprisingly fun - and I got to make smoke effects! Smoke is so interesting to work with, I really need to find more excuses to jam that into graphic novel scenes… *Scribbles mental note* I don’t know whom was threatening the duo, but it’s a fair bet they’re participating in that fantastic slurry of magma baking at the bottom of the crater. And really, can you feel any sympathy for them? Who in their RIGHT MIND would look at that dragon, stop, and think: “Yeah…. I can take ’im!” Such flights of delusion are sure to end badly at the hands of dragons.

Dragon: "...Ok, I go now, but come back later."
Fox: "I can't promise nothing."
So much fun! lol XD
Dragon: No, 'tis my spot."
Fox: Ah c'mon Dragon, not this again."
Dragon: 'Tis my spot and I'm not leavin'!"
Fox: C'mon...we're having ice cream back there."
