Fourth of July, who needs fireworks?
Its been hot, muggy as all hell, and I initially had planned to draw the 3 days I was forced off. But when its 79-82% humidity inside my apartment, and 88 degrees inside and thats with fans going. Paper doesn't co-operate, warps, skin sticks to it.
Plus I haven't gone shooting since my birthday last year. And I was LONG overdue for range time. So I headed off with
Neikrad and
mad5s (Thats the Notorious Pook right there next to me.)
We basically had the range to ourselves, although it started off hot and muggy there, it soon had a steady breeze which made it far more tolerable the rest of the time there.
Mainly using various handguns to long overdue practice with. Plus getting in badly needed practice with a couple of my CCW weapons to sharpen my accuracy. Plus FINALLY sight-in my Ruger PC9 Tactical carbine. Both Pook and I tried on a 50 meter range, and didn't place a single shot on the paper. Then moved to the 25 meter range and a larger target to spot shot placement. That didn't produce results either. So I singled out a single spent 12 guage shotgun shell. That way I was able to see where my impact was and able to adjust my scope.Once I picked off the casing. I moved to the paper and with Pook spotting me and finally got the 'sweet spot'. So well we could cover a 10 round hole with a quarter. Thats a damn good grouping.
But I was able to test drive a Glock 20 in 10MM, and seriously need to practice with that. Far too wide a pattern. My KelTec PMR30 proved popular again and learned that I need adjust my aim with my Taurus 605 .357 snubbie. But I was still able to get 2 inch grouping with it at 30 feet.
All and all, I did explosives involving lead projectiles this Fourth and it was worth it.
Pook with his Remington Tech 14 and me with the Ruger PC9 Tactical carbine. And yes, We stopped to grab drinks at a store first and some lady popped a nut over my shirt (not seeing the snubbie on my hip) saying that my shirt was highly offensive and needed to leave the area because she was offended!
Only in Madison (And maybe Berkeley, New York, Portland, San Francisco ect ect ect) I swear.
