Flinters Roo Suit completed
Yay! It's done!
My Flinters roo suit is completed and ready to be packed for my trip to FC 2010. It's pretty close to the way I draw myself, complete with the vest that I made to match the drawings. The bandana is a recent addition I've been putting into the drawings so I decided to make one here too.
No pouch, note. Sorry. I love the pouches, but I don't have one.
Ignore the clutterd and messy background. I have no carpet in my house and it's waiting for me to get the money together to do wood laminate flooring.
Oh, threre's nobody in that suit for the photos. I made a duct tape dummy and use that for modeling the suits. It becomes essentially a life size plush. :)

wow, flinters, nice work. You should post to the fursuit group on LJ.

I'm working on my fursuit right now. Sadly I've enough materials since I played the "let's chance the color and shag" game. I hope to get my suit done soon.
How long did the fursuit take you to complete?

I watch the fursuit group on Twitter, but I don't use my LJ account except very very rarely. I find LJ to pretty much exist only for drama, but that fursuit group is making me think I may want to rethink that and join there.
How long did it take? Oh, the head was done in about about two weeks of evenings and a weekend. The sewing of the body suit was a weekend. Feet took one day from nothing to fully finished. I did the feet and handpaws in one 8 hour session.
Total? Probably about three weeks of evenings and weekends. I could do it faster, I suppose, but this wasn't a rush job. I also had the advantage of having done this roo suit once before in grey for Roodaroo, so all the work I had done custom making the body suit pattern there could be reused. :)

The vest is a generic pattern from the fabric store I bought for 99 cents on sale. I took the pattern they had and scaled it up about 30% to allow for the suit and padding. I also made sure the holes for the arms were MUCH bigger so they won't bind either. Lastly, I put in a panel in the back instead of a single seam to let me expand it larger if I need to.
For sure :3 Hopefully we can get a bunch of roos together for a photoshoot again, like this one at MFF: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3077652
That was right after the parade. We tried to stick together so there'd be a Kangaroo Conga Line :3

In many of the post I read about the pouch. I was wondering where you would keep be keeping the mints that you are so famous for loving. Then I see the vest, if it has pockets you can just store some mints in there along with any other items that mint be needed for the Roo on the town. That is of course if the vest has pockets. I can not really tell from the pictures.
