Name: Charles Pratt Marston
Location: Burlington, MA
Date: 1773
Carver: HC Geyer
A snapshot of a very specific time period.
Charles Pratt, Lord Camden - a member of the House Of Lords - was a supporter of the colonists' right to declare independence from the Crown. As such, he was regarded by some in the States as a hero.
John and Elizabeth Marston named their son after him. When he died at nine months, according to the stone, "...British Forces held his native Town."
The epitaph concludes:
"Then shalt thou rise, where dwells Immortal Love
And with great CAMDEN live in brightest Realms above.
Lord Camden, a great friend of America & after
whom the Child was named."
