Here's some info:

Grane is a creature of unknown species, but for simplicity referred to as a Skull Creature. He is the ideal predator with strong hind legs for leaping, semi-retractable claws, and large fangs. He is covered with multiple feather-like strands which she can harden on command. These strands are also poisonous, so one scrape could be deadly. Gane's eyes also easily adjust to light allowing him to see in even the darkest areas.
