Oh sorry, not referring to the dream sequence. Yeah, that one's hard to make out. Intentionally, but still. I was more referring to the scene where he speaks to Jigurandae, which granted, they talk in double-speak, but I was hoping most people would realize they were discussing drugs :P
This is an emotional climax and I love how Isolde is finally showing (and getting to show) how much she actually cares for Amon. It's lovely little things like this that gets to show just how deep you make your characters. A little bit of her mask has fallen away. I also really love how you did Amon in that last panel - he truly looks limp and unresponsive. The only thing is, that the whole rest of that final panel doesn't live up to the moment with how Isolde is depicted and even the background character. Their posture and poses make them inconsistent with the emotion - to the point it breaks me out of the story.
Agreed, but even someone who just came into the room would have their attention drawn by a loud and distraught person yelling and shaking someone on the floor. Her gaze would naturally be drawn to that and her expression register some hint of surprise, from forward snapped ears and maybe widened eyes or a straightened spine to a hand to the mouth or chest. Isolde, already in the throes of full on reaction, is even more starkly off in her pose.
Just to add, in case my remarks come off as a bit abrupt - the only reason I mention this is because it's so jarring. You're usually -very- good with body language and the art enhancing the writing. The whole exchange on the page where Amon is seeking and then speaking with the black leopard for example, is masterfully done. The stances, side looks, everything about that interplay that the words are concealing is revealed in how they're shown interacting. Even the background characters are glimpses into people at a party for different reasons, each one written in pose and expression.
Opiates overdose, opium or possibly morphine. Amon has a history with abusing it. Heroine is a more modem invention, and wasn’t really available to the very late 1800’s / early 1900’s so I wouldn’t think he’d known that (thankfully). All of them come from the opium poppy plant and all of them can and will kill you if abused.
Because if he's going out of his way to escape his life (which in this case is looking very very bad) and replace reality with a dream he may as well be able to die there. Better for him to go his way than live through sacrifice or whatever he thinks would happen plus having everyone he cared about being disappointed in him till the end for nearly ODing. Big picture it's worse in that he'd be replaced, better if he revolted, better yet if he didn't get high (subjectively because I am an ass who won't' tolerate recreational drug use. and yes he mostly gets a pass for having it forced on him in the beginning) and instead took some form of initiative/agency which he sorta did talking to Luther a little bit.
Of course as an audience member I can see the meta narrative suggesting that he survive and escape the assumed fate through Luther. In which case the near-OD is probably just maintaining character consistency and/or provoking an ah-ha moment that causes a change in Amon that another character wasn't set up to provide.
If I'm wrong and he dies then he is likely providing an inciting incident for other characters to take action in the plot.
This isn't meant to be negative towards the creator(s), the story is flowing very well and the art is fantastic. I'd just a person that believes in a persons right to choose to die under significant circumstances and also find rec drugs distasteful.

I think we’ve all at some point known someone like her. That one person in our lives that always acts like they don’t care yet when times are at their worst they are always there. Amon is lucky to have someone who cares about him this much in the world of suffering and hopefulness he has endured. Throughout his story he’s always been someone I’ve felt a strong empathy for and wished I could be his friend, help him, and show him a better life.
