-Backstory-

Permafrost started as a scribe for the Dutchies; writing everything down, acting as a note taker; wanting to keep the history of the land eternal. When the war broke out, she was the last one to give in to the darkness. She wrote down her witness accounts of the war, and as it began to end, she read over her writings of it, the horror, darkness, and brutality of it seeping into her purity, tarnishing it and pulling her into the fight.
When she was banished, the corrupted writing was sent down with her. She learned from her mistake, never daring to read them again.
It doesn't matter if someone reads it to her or she reads it herself mentally; the words are as impure as the war itself, and any utterance of the sentences pull her close to the abyss.
She became a second generation Dutchie by engaging in a duel over these writings; she insisted they be destroyed, but a mortal felt like they were such a detailed account of the war that their importance was paramount. They dueled ferociously over it, and during the fight, the mortal gave her substantial damage. To burn the papers, Permafrost had to literally leap through flames to set the papers alight, otherwise the mortal would've forcibly stolen them.

Permafrost retreated to recover, and with her greatest fear burned away, she gave herself a black muzzle ring; black to represent the abyssal sin she committed in the war, but a ring nonetheless to comfort her that Paradise still exists, and that their entire history is recalled by her work.
