It was I think much of a case of being between audiences- to kiddy for adults, too mature for kids, therefore it didn't really get many fans. Shame really but it's how these things go. Maybe it would work better now with cartoons aimed at a wider spectrum being more common. I'm working on an idea for a cartoon myself that would probably be on a simlar sort of level to how this show was.

Still it seems these days to get a cartoon aimed at "mature" audiences, you basically have to make it crude rather than intelligent, which is a shame. From what I've seen of this show, it fell more into the latter. An intelligent cartoon with anthro characters would probably never catch on whereas ones with sex references and fart jokes probably would...

Perhaps?

Hmm...well, there's the roaches, and it would be pretty cool to see some "black" characters show up here and there. There was also the love interest that Max had in the series. Heh, in truth, it might help to re-watch a lot of it, but the resurfacing would be awesome.

This really is an oddity of a show, even watership down and fathing wood dont match it, for them the adult themes fit in with the drama, whereas this rockets between kid-funny and adult-funny on a dime.

Still, for people like us it's perfect :3 and you did a great job on getting there shape and style right, and max is even looking caring, THERES something wierd! :P

Oh, how I had loved that show for obvious reasons.

Love this drawing. Great cartoon, Max is one of those characters who needs a warm hug, cuddles and a shoulder to cry on. He lost his whole family and nearly died from a forced drug overdose from an evil thug. Poor baby has got it worse off than Fievel. Surprised there aren't any hurt/comfort fics about Max yet. I'm tempted to start one.

I'd like to too. I actually have an actual figure of Max on my computer desk!

Yeah, Max is a pretty tough cookie considering all he goes through in the cartoon. He lost his family and nearly died TWICE. I wish plushies of Max existed so I could hug him really tight.

Personally, I think they should of had an episode where Max finds out one of his brothers survives the gassing so he flies out to Nebraska to see him. When Max arrives, he is verbally abused and physically beaten by his brother who calls Max a coward and a traitor for letting his family die. Berkley comforts a tearful and beaten Max and they try to bury the hatchet with his angry brother. Even Jammet is ticked off by how abusive Max's brother has become towards him. What do you think of that possible storyline? I think it would make a much better series finale.

Cool I still have those Plush like toys of Max an Jammet in their boxes never taken them out. Loved that show it just sucks that it only got 13 ep's. :( an yes Power to us rodents

One of the cool things about Capitol Critters is that Neil Patrick Harris, one of my favorite actors, voices Max!
