however the photo was taken on February 6th.
There's been heavy snow all over this part of the country lately. It wasn't terribly bad here, if still a pain in the ass to dig one's self out. It was however quite visually interesting. The climate produced a heavy, wet snow that stuck to whatever it hit, even the SIDES of trees and lamp posts, making for a full-on winter wonderland effect. Very pretty, if you like snow that is.

Yeah, it will be a bit of a pain to work out. I think they're bringing snow down from higher areas of the mountain. Of course, those events will be in Whistler or on Cypress Mountain, so there may be more snow there than in the city.
I bet some people's perceptions of Canadian winter will be shattered, though. That might be fun to see.

I had a similar situation right outside my door earlier today. Would have been beautiful if I hadn't had to huff it and shovel out the car from almost a foot of snow. Damn long driveways..
oddly enough, I HATE unearthing my own vehicle, but don't mind at all helping other people out. Isn't that nutty?

New York City usually does get snow this time of year, but this particular storm just missed us. I didn't see so much as a flurry the whole time the Mid-Atlantic was getting buried less than 100 miles away.
We might get a "consolation prize" sometime this week, though.

Looks like it did here in the midwest on the same day.
Here's what my front yard looked like.

Unbelievably, we got over 12 inches in 24 hours here in Dallas, TX. We've had more snow over an entire winter, but never so much in a day. Not much ice, as it hovered just above freezing, and the sun came out today (Saturday) so it's all going away and leaving a muddy swamp instead. A *cold* muddy swamp.
