Watching Evie's stutter come back during this exchange is such a small but incredibly impacting detail. I resonate with her so much in this situation and really feel for them both having to wrestle through their respective traumas while trying to create something healthy (which is effectively an unknown to them). Its a really sobering reminder that this story is just as much about her trauma as it is about Stellas.
I think we can all agree that Stella up to this point has lost it because she just got out of an abusive life and all that abuse even after finally leaving that life has finally taken a toll on her sanity. She thinks she is top dog now but deep down she is still hurting and that abusive life still linger all the while Evie is still trying to help her the best way she could.
This is one of those scenerios that where no matter how far you push others away, there is that one person that still protects that person and be beside him/her always and eventually will open and soften up to that person.
