Ysir is not a native of this world but she has made a home of it. Living with the aquatic race, the kuda, she is the only one able to swim amongst them and walk on land with the other "landers", her amphibious status both a curiosity, and an envy for the strictly aquatic kuda. Not that any of them ever tell Ysir that, save a few.
Of those Ysir has befriended, she is closest to mixbreed healer I`kaul, not only because he helped heal her burn injuries, but because he has also showed her the underwater world many other kuda do not often explore. And sometimes, when the weather is right, he even tries to explore the land too.
