Open eyes, a warm ray of sun hit the younglings face. The sound of crashing waves nearby and green long grass swaying gently in the breeze. They take a deep breath of the fresh sea air, and turn around to take in the scenery of this strange place. Without another beat, a small child appeared from the grass running into the Dutch Angel Dragon. The youngling screeches, jumping several feet into the air like a cat and fell backwards. The child giggled at the younglings blunder, “Kitty, you silly!”
The youngling shook its body free of dust then tilted its head at the child. The child had black hair, and their body was glowing gold to the youngling. Confused, they approached the child to sniff them from a distance. The golden dust anomalies began to show in their vision, as well as the red changing symbols above the girls head. The girl reached out to the youngling, and they puffed out in fear for a moment before slowly meeting their nose to the girls hands. The world became silent when she made contact with the youngling, they became calmed by the girls' touch. “Good kitty,” the girl smiled at the youngling, looking deep into their golden eyes. “Eve, it’s time for lunch!” a woman’s voice called out to the girl. She squealed happily and hopped to her feet running to her mother, the youngling trailing behind her. “Mommy, mommy! I found a kitty!” she points to the youngling standing behind her. Mother takes a long glance looking for this “cat”, kneels down to her daughter and rubs her hand on the top of her head lovingly, “Aww, you have an imaginary friend! You have such a wild imagination!” She smiled at Eve and picked up her small child to go feed her lunch. The youngling was dumbfounded, why couldn’t the mom see them but… Eve could? They huffed, following after the mother anyway, a golden trail from Eve being left behind as she’s carried to a large wooden table that could easily sit ten people. The little one sat on the table, taking in the surroundings. There were many wooden covered wagons, each with different posters and signs. The ground was well traveled upon, seemingly this group was pretty well established here. A gigantic and colorful striped tent was out in the distance away from what seems to be the living quarters of this group. Eve shuffled next to the youngling with a plateful of food, “Is Kitty hungry?” She offered a chicken leg. The youngling turned their face away, pushing the food away with its paw. “Oh, you must already be full… that’s ok!” Eve grinned, bits of apple stuck on her teeth. She swung her legs contently, the youngling watching her endearingly. Ignoring the fact the now frustrating red symbols keep changing on the top of her head. In no time flat, Eve was somehow already finished with her food, brought her plate to her mother and thanked her for the food, then bounds over to the youngling, “Come on, I wanna show you!” She motioned the “kitty” to follow, which they obliged hopping down and trotted over to her.
Eve skipped around, showing the youngling every favourite place she had around her humble home. They ended at the front of the tent, Eve looking up at it with stars in her eyes and a big smile on her face. “This is where a bunch of people come to see daddy and other people that live with us,” she turned to the youngling. “Daddy is a ‘super strong man’,” she shows off her “muscles” flexing her tiny arms at the youngling, being silly sticking her tongue out. The youngling giggled, mimicking Eve for the first time. “Mommy is a ‘psychic’, she reads these cards to people and they give her money for whatever the cards say,” she points at a wagon adorned with purple shawls and a sign with a large eye on it. She looked around then sneaks into the tent, the youngling scrambling to her paws to follow after. Inside, several wooden stands stacked in varying levels were circled around a large dirt ring in the middle. The ceilings were tall, taller than what the youngling is even used to. They arrive to the middle of the ring, the youngling falls backwards into the dirt, amazed by the sheer vastness of the tent. Eve followed, laying next to them with her arms and legs outstretched, “I wanna be just like daddy, doing cool things in front of a crowd. I don’t want to be strong, I want to do tricks! In the air! Do you think I can do it?” she turned to the youngling, only to see them being surrounded by gold dust. They quickly get up, trying to control themselves to not go back. “Kitty? What’s happening?” Eve increasingly worried as the youngling starts to disappear. They close their eyes to concentrate to stay, “Don’t go, kitty!” Eve goes to grab them.
Little one opens their eyes, seeing a sun rising in Paradise.
“Eve,” their tiny voice mimicking that of her mother as they shake in fear. They look around terrified, then close their eyes trying to go back.
But to no avail, they remained in Paradise.
“Starshine?” Cirrus was in the courtyard, where the youngling happened to appear. “You should be with the instructor, what brings you here?” Cirrus started to approach the youngling, only for them to back away with their fur and feathers standing on end. They hissed and growled at her, their eyes glowing bright gold.
“Starshine, please. Let me help you.” Cirrus remained calm, being careful with each step she took.
“Eve,” the youngling hissed then turned to run into the bushes and take flight into the air, disappearing into the morning dew.
