A commission done by the wonderful
Dearshul
This scene is from a story I hope to write eventually.
Kauntry has recently been turned into a mouse and cast into the woods to fend for himself.
Every little noise amplified in his new mouse ears, every bird flying overhead sets him more and more on edge. He turns as he hears a rustling behind him. A strange white fox has emerged from the trees. What Kauntry would once have called a small animal now appears enormous. Kauntry freezes in fear, but his brown fur stands out against the green grass. The fox looks straight at him.
Oh no! It sees me! I gotta...
In his panic, he tries to run away on his hind legs, forgetting his new quadrupedal form. This only results in him tumbling head over tail.
So this is how I'm going to die. I can't outrun it. Nobody will ever know what happened to me. I.. I...
"AHHH! DON'T EAT ME!"
Yeah, like that will help, says a small voice in the back of his head.
The fox draws closer, opens its mouth and...
"I'm not going to eat you," it says in a feminine voice, a look of concern on its face.
And meet Milo, a human boy, almost a man, who has found himself in the body of a young, female kitsune.

Average days. The one thing that time can produce so effortlessly. Good to hear that you gained a friend, always good to gain one. If you want, I have some friends of my own that would be friends with you in a heartbeat. How tricky is it to deal with a body that isn't yours? You say that you found yourself in this body, meaning whatever has been found has also been lost. Is it possible that someone is in your own body?
(Let me know if this comment is troublesome, I don't want to cause any trouble)

Milo: *sigh* It's funny. Walking isn't hard as long as I don't think too hard how to do it. It's all the reminders that this isn't my body that I hate. The tail, *swishes tail a bit* the paws, the voice, the... well I'd rather not talk about that. And this nose and these ears *flicking ears* are so much more sensitive than I'm used to.
And you asked if someone else is in here? Well, no. This is Yuki's body, but *ears drooping* she's gone now.
(and it's no trouble at all)

Understandable. Getting used to all the new features of a different body is quite difficult at first, but on the positive side, that nose could help out greatly if there was a bushfire, arson attack, or if you left the stove on. Same with the ears, could help out someone who may be far away.
I am deeply sorry that Yuki has passed. Was she a good friend?

Milo: Yeah, I figure I'll get used to it eventually. Wish I didn't have to. It's just so much information it's hard to focus. Even familiar smells are different.
And no, I never knew Yuki. Part of me wishes she was here to help. She didn't deserve this either. I have met her mother, *bristling* but it's her fault I'm in this mess.

That's the thing with a human form and a human life. We get so distracted by what we are going to have for dinner, or work that's due, or what shows that we like that the information on how to move just become second nature.
I'm sorry that you are in this situation. How did it happen?
