Just Erin...
Have you ever seen someone die?
I did this past sunday... I didn't realise it at the time, but later found out he died minutes after I saw the look of terror in his eyes.
It's been haunting me

Very sorry you had to go thru that experience. I have twice in hospitals over the last 15 years and it's not gruesome by any means since they were already asleep, but still not a good thing at all and it sticks with you for years. Time fixes many things and it'll make the impact less disturbing, but it'll always be there in your head somewhere even if it's locked away. Again, sorry you had to see that. Hope you can feel better somehow. Vent Arts always a thing to get out your emotions.
What an unsettling experience that must be. The only people whose deaths I witnessed were all the fuzzy type: my two dogs and cat and my roommate's dog who all died in my arms (each of those deaths are traumatic memories that have haunted me for years), as well as various other animals throughout my life. I've never been present during the death of any human family or friends. The closest would have been my dad who died a few minutes before I got to the hospice where he was staying.
I was... really scared that I was going to see my great grandfather die a few weeks ago. He made it through the visit, but just the anxiety I felt at his bedside was... eugh. Though he didn't look scared, at least (thankfully) just... fascinated and sometimes irritated with whatever he was seeing. I think I would probably be a gibbering mess if it had actually happened. I'm so sorry to hear you're going through that. I'm not surprised it's haunting you - it's disturbing in several regards. (all the hugs)
