The latest in my series of "Compositions of a Stupid Autistic Mind," which are either repetitive on purpose or are just stupid little melodies I improvise. Why? It represents the annoying things I used to do as a child, which proved to my parents I really am autistic. This whole series of compositions are based on dreams I have from time to time, which are flashbacks of my childhood. These repetitive melodies, therefore, are generally either things I improvised and they stuck with me, or were based on things I discovered I remembered wrong. Alternately, they're sometimes relevant to a current event in my life, or just represent what mood I am in right now. This series also is a challenge for me to use specific MuseScore templates at least once (although I also modify settings on the templates to make it easier on myself).
The title "Sniff and snort" refers to bad habits of mine that began when I was a kid, but actually conquered by the time I was a teenager, so that's good. I'd sniff and snort, annoying my parents, but they were always in rhythm. This habit, ironically, led to my love of percussion instruments (including piano because it was once classified as a percussion instrument before the invention of digital pianos), and my experiences playing a few of them. Later on in life, I found it didn't quite match the personality God gave me; singing in choirs did. I could have been quite good at it if I kept going, though.
Since I'm challenging myself to use specific templates at least once, this one began originally from the "small concert band" template. Thus, the piece is for the following:
Flute
Oboe
Bassoon
2 B-flat clarinets
Bass clarinet
Alto saxophone
Tenor saxophone
Baritone saxophone
Horn in F
2 B-flat trombones
2 trombones
Euphonium
Tuba
Glockenspiel
Timpani
Bass drum
Snare drum
Cymbals
Wood blocks
Music (C) me and me alone
