German National Anthem for Percussion and Piano
Another of my takes on national anthems for percussion and piano, but this one is the German anthem. I know that I am partially German and partially Swedish when you look at my ancestry, but I don't know the exact details about that yet.
Although the German anthem has 3 verses to it, people usually only sing the third verse; the first 2 aren't appropriate for the modern times (or so I've heard).
The instrument lineup is:
Glockenspiel
Vibraphone
Xylophone
Crotales
Celesta
Marimba (playing grand staff)
Piano
Haydn's original title is "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser," or "God Save Emperor Francis." In church, we used to sing the melody when singing the hymn "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken" (although we didn't sing the last four measures twice).
Original music is public domain
This arrangement (C) me and me alone
