skekVar the General was a Skeksis that lived from the age of Division up until the Age of Resistance. His Mystic counterpart was urMa the Peacemaker and the two formed the UrSkek VarMa. His allies were skekZok the Ritual Master and skekAyuk the Gourmand. It is possible to he may had been allies with skekUng and skekNa, as the former shared the same believes in Strength of Brute force while the later was the presume Spy Master around the time of the Age of Division and as well a good fighter in his right.
Originally known as the Ambassador, though briefly, skekVar was the envoy from skekSo to the Gelfling race when the Makrak raided the lands in the days following the crack of the Crystal and the arrival of the Skeksis and Mystics. While desiring to destroy Thra's gentle inhabitants for been weak, skekSo caution restrain, as the newly minted Emperor saw them for better use as Servants to the new Lords of the Crystal. The plans were however stopped as the Mystics, Raunip and Thall intervene, avoiding a bloodshed. While skekVar was angry by the turn of events, skekSo was pleased, as it gave them a place in the Council, from that point on, the Ambassador became the General, and the Gelfling became their Soldiers. This also led to the Crystal Alliance.
Despite been a brutish commander that chagrin to the careful time consuming machinations of the Emperor (or the Chamberlain), he value talented warrior skills when he saw them, as proven when he saw a young Ordon fight the Arathim during the Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood at the end of the Arathim Wars, giving him a place in the Castle as the Captain of the Guard, though that was as far as respects he ever gave to a Gelfling. During the War, he helped to provide needed intelligence that helped exterminate the Poison Spitters, a subspecies of Arathim. He was an unconditionally loyal to the Emperor though out of his own interest of political aspirations , while viewing most the Skeksis as weak, specially the Scientist, but maintain a heated rivalry with the Chamberlain.
By the time of the events of Age of Resistance, skekVar, like the other Skeksis, was concern that the weakening crystal failed to provide more new life to them. When the Scientist found that Gelfling essence provided vitality to them, Rian discover the true nature of the Skeksis and escape the castle with a vile as proof, by fault of the Chamberlain, though the Scientist was the one that pay the price by losing his right eye. The General tried to convince the others to round up every last Gelfling on Thra, while the Chamberlain caution moderation, collecting what was need to survive. This led to a scuffle between the two which ended with the Emperor giving the position of Counsel to skekVar, to the dismay and humiliation of skekSil, prompting the sneaking Chamberlain to plot his rival's downfall as well hire the services of the Hunter skekMal.
As skekVar grew more unhinge with his position as Counsel, he infamously murdered All-Maudra Mayrin when he and skekZok the Ritual Master were order to bring Gelfling volunteers" to suck up their essence. When the Guard learn the news of her murder from a Vapra Paladin, they rebel, but were stump by the Skeksis, their betrayal leading to an Essence Feast. His actions would be welcome by the Emperor, as the Skeksis no longer had the need to play nice with the Gelfling, furthering the humiliation of the Chamberlain, who came to warn of the Rebellion by the Stonewood Clan, which became the new target of the Skeksis' hunger for more essence. Not long after, skekVar would learn the truth of the Darkening from skekSo, who had been experimenting in secret for sometime.
Afterward, the Arathim, now allied with the Skeksis under skekVar's command and using Tavra as a puppet, use the Threaders to mind-meld with the Gelfling in Stone in the Wood, taken them to Castle where many were drained. Is at this point Chamberlain makes his move, with the Gruenak slaves he gave to the Scientist, he switched skekVar's real essence with a fake one, which failed to enrich him. When Aughra shows up to the castle to give her essence to save skekMal the Hunter in exchange for the life of the Gelfling, skekSo orders him to kill them before they got out of the castle and seeks them with skekLach the Collector. The Arathim, having learn the truth from Rian and Deet, rebel and attack, Princess Tavra stabs the General and follows him to kill him, but she in turn stabbed fatally by the Chamberlain, who saves skekVar with the last vile of true essence, healing his wound. This leads the General to blindly trust the Chamberlain, not long after, skekVar and skekSil propose to the Emperor the idea of new Soldiers engineer to be loyal, these would be the Garthim, born from a fusion of Arathim bodies and Gruenak organs. This allows the Chamberlain to regain a seat at their table.
When Rian finally finds the Dual Glaive and sends out a call to the Gelfling to join the Resistance, skekVar joins the others (minus skekTek) to fight them in Stone-in-the-Wood. He Challenges Rian in a duel, but he is outmaneuver and stab, though Rian refuses to kill him, but still the power of the Glaive (in fact the shard of the Crystal of truth in its handle) drains the General of his essence, and he limps away humiliated in defeat. As the other Skeksis fight the Resistance, skekSil followed skekVar to the outskirts of the Village: asking for help from his friend, Chamberlain takes the chance to stab the General while his guard was down, skekVar release an agonizing scream as his body calcify and collapse into dust, becoming the first Skeksis to die since skekYi and skekHak, over 900 Thrine prior. The news of his death was not known to the Skeksis until inform by the Chamberlain when the defeated Skeksis (minus skekLach and skekMal) return to the castle. Yet their hopes for success and revenge are reignited when the Scientist presents the fruit of skekVar's infamous legacy, the Garthim. Afterwards, he was succeeded by skekUng, who became the new General and Garthim Master.

During the Trial by Fire, he secretly had an alliance with the Collector to defeat skekSil. His alliea in that series were skekEer the Spy Master and skekCru the Mariner, Legends only characters. skekVar was mentioned in the novel final Flames of the Dark Crystal by J.M. Lee.
