A commission for Massiel.
This took me more than a year to finish. It has 40 layers, and the original is over 3000 pixels tall.
In other words it's about 1/3 life size.

More like "It's just that big".
Actually the dust was interesting. I wanted to have his kind of "frozen in time" feel - Matrix Bullet Time sort of thing.
It took me a while to work out how to get the dust. A while ago
Falconeio worked out that if you use a noise filter, and altered the contrast sufficiently you could get a pretty good starfield.
I played with it and found that if you use Grain, it's got a better amount of fine control, so I used it to generate dust, tehn used the Image>Apply Image function with a layer mask to create a layer mask, filled the image layer with white, applied the layer mask, then used a second layer mask to edit the image into a shaft with transparency (It fades out towards he left side).
After that I could use Layer Effects > Glow to give the dust a halo to make it look like it was catching the light.
