Here's something a little different-
Rancidious has for some time now been doing brand new character designs based off of Pokemon, including shiny/albino and mashup characters. you pick 'em, give them a body type, gender, and couple of keywords to nudge things but then they go to work.
I'd been considering a character based off of Midday Lycanroc for some time for obvious reasons (being that I agree with the general fan-canon that ML is a coyote instead of a wolf) . But that was taken, so I figured that it would be interesting to mash one with one of my other fav 'mons, Umbreon. As for the keywords I was intrigued by the idea of what the hybrid would be so I went Gothic Tribal, a keyword for both halves of the mix. I also went with slender but athletic and male, figuring that body type was key (even fatter coyotes I've ever seen still have that wiry look about them)
And out came this fantastic idea. The artist went with a Burning Man aesthetic here which certainly fits the "gothic tribal" look. I like him, his clothes and attitude are just fantastic, the way the Umbreon rings look very nice against his fur, and the umbreon coloring for the Lycanroc neckspikes are just fantastic.
If there's one thing I'll probably change is the piercings. For something like Burning Man, they fit, but everyday, I'm not so sure. I'm not going to eliminate the piercings as they certainly work for his attitude, just gotta figure which ones gotta go. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping the eyebrow studs as that just seems like a nice accent to the eyebrow umbreon markings, but maybe cutting down on the muzzle studs and removing the chains, we'll see.
I had considered naming him Black Rock after the desert that Burning Man is usually held but I figured that would a) be too stereotypical tribal and b) I didn't really want to tie him to the festival, just that he's a type to probably have gone. So I went with Ahote, often translated as "restless one" in Hopi, and I think that fits him.
If y'all want your own character, hit them up here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33509633/ Most of the popular 'mons are taken on their own but there are plenty of mashup options!
