When the world beats upon you
And you're armored head to toe
The problems of blade and foe
Seem make you quite amused
But your little human friend
Isn't quite the same;
He's fleshy weak and small
But works hard all the while
his efforts prove their worth
And can easily bring a smile
But both of flesh and scale
Are vulnerable all the same
Of emotions, hopes and fears
that batter and betray.
So in that silent moment
The two embrace as one
And tears fall from both scale and flesh
As vulnerability won.
A shared moment of weakness
Of two beings not the same
And with a sigh
"It's okay to cry"
plays a soft ambient refrain.
