One of the protagonists in The Blackhole Heart. Ryan first meets Joshua as his roommate and the two soon become friends and allies as Ryan learns that monsters do exist and that Joshua can turn into one. He attends Joshua's training and learns how to fight a little as well. He also at one point saves Joshua's life and helps in the final fight by taking on Fleitin himself.
