Good lord, woman! Charge more! XD
There is no way this took you only one hour (which is what you should be getting 15 for), this looks like a 3-4 hour job to me, it's very awesome and detailed, especially for a badge! I mean, take at least 30! I know what artists not even half as good as you are charging that and getting business, so I'm sure you can get more than double! It's a beautiful badge, the widdle ear tufts and the lettering especially catch my eye.
(and before someone jumps down my throat for encouraging zomg higher prices in the zomg furry fandom.. this girl works hard for what she does and has bills to pay, these badges are not just a "gift to the fandom" she should enjoy doing for very little in return. Man, I hate that attitude some people have. Not all of us want to or have to be content just drawing and sharing stuff with the masses for free. Maybe if we were independently wealthy. XD)

I think its beautiful and for handwork should be at least 20. It depends on how much you enjoy the work and how much work you want to take in as to how much you charge. What I hate most is that wonderful artists think they are not worth enough. If they know what they are worth and choose to charge less that's OK but most don't think people will value their work that much and have self esteem issues. this is an amazing piece and should be loved and cared for as such.
Pricing depends on how much you charge an hour, and how long it takes you to do a pic. It slightly has to do with renoun aswell. I enjoy the work very much, and I charged 15 for these as a special price to raise interest in my work. Considering I am an illustration student almost ready to graduate, I should at least be charging 12-15 dollars an hour. Even 12 is rediculous for the industry standard. But I dont, because many people in the fandom will give me replies such as "Id commission you, but I have no money".
I probably do have self esteem issues regardless, since last summer I had the hardest time getting customers. But after this batch of badges I will definetly start taking them for at least 30 dollars(The standard for badges in the fandom is 40$ for something this detailed ). I have to pay rent, and I have school so I cannot work more than 3 days a week at a regular job. Art is my extra income, so this special on badges will not be reproduced unless I have a larger source of income elsewhere. I am overworked at the moment, but want to make people happy =/

good answer and very nice work. Also very good salesmanship. Overbooked is good, means people should be willing to pay your prices when they go up. I like your art work and would be willing to commission you. Right now I am waiting on some commissions ordered to be completed before I can. Don't want to lose track you know. Beautiful stuff, I love the fur so soft and real looking especially for watercolor. (I am a sucker for watercolor)
Yeah, I know XD
I wanted to make a "special deal" to raise a bit more interest in my work. I was worried that if I put it at a price that is resonable to most artists(15$ an hour), people would just not be interested and I wouldnt get customers =/
Last summer, I had even more reduced prices on full color commissions, and didnt get buisness. I had to get a retail job and couldnt keep doing the furry art for money thing =/ This somewhat influenced this special I had going on(lower prices since people were not interested last summer). I havent taken on jobs for awhile from ppl on FA, I didnt know where the interest in my work was at anymore.
In anycase, Im working for peanuts right now and I don't think I will make such a deal again for awhile. I guess my initial intent was to make people happy for one, and see if people were even interested in my art anymore. Ive been out of the loop for awhile with this online commission taking thing. I took 10 this time around in the first batch, and I am over worked because everyone will be expecting the level of detail Sarakazis badge has. I worked about 3 hours on it. The sad part is, there is a second round of people hoping to get this price and I am very much leaning towards saying "sorry guys, this is too much work for what im paid for". Makes me look like a mega douche for getting their hopes up for nothing =/ .. buut...I have bills to pay. Its like, either charge less=get more buisness, or charge more and get only a few ppl interested. Thats what it seemed to me. Hrm.
Anyways, thanks for your comment. That is kind of you to say, and to stick up for me like that XD

Don't worry about what the people on the wait list say, as long as they haven't paid you and you haven't explicitly made a deal. You're trying to make money, business is business! I totally understand art at low prices for fun, but people shouldn't expect it, and I think most individuals are very understanding. Hey, you have school, you have a job, I'm sure you'd rather be drawing stuff for yourself than working for 5$ an hour on another 10 badges. If they think badly of you over it, well, then they're kind of douchy, to put it bluntly. XD
I understand the reasoning behind your offer, that's actually a great idea to test out the waters, just don't overwork yourself. :3 It makes art and commissions in general a lot more enjoyable when you feel that you're getting adequate compensation for it, and that will often shine through in the end result as well, so commissioners will be happier! I'd rather take less commissions for higher prices a pop than potentially make more money with cheaper commissions and overwork myself and completely lose interest in doing art for a while. I get that art exhaustion feeling after cons sometimes where I won't pick up a pencil for weeks, it sucks.
But I know that you know all that, but I'm still like "zomg, 15$? That's only 5 bucks more than a print, for custom art!". I hope some of your commissioners know this, are awesome, and will at least tip you. ;)

Yeah, I specificly told them not to pay me. I just told them to send me their descriptions, and that they were on a waiting list. I dont think the counts as explicitly making a deal. "I'm sure you'd rather be drawing stuff for yourself than working for 5$ an hour on another 10 badges." -Big time. I have 4 pannels to fill in the AC. AH! That alone is a good enough reason not to be working for so cheap XD
But youre right, they shouldnt expect it and I have no obligation to give them omg discounts.
That art exhaustion thing happens to me often, go figure =/
I was lucky and a few kind folks did tip me. That was cool of them.

while I don't comment very often, your work almost always catches my attention and it always strikes a "insert thing of which i do not have a good name for".
and the reason I do not comment often is because most of the time I would say something that sounds as half retarded as this :p
the blue is delicious.
