OMFG!!! I hated Newton... he was the worst thing in cartoons until Scrappy Doo came along!~

I think Edith Hamilton's Mythology got me most interested in Centaurs and minotaurs. Actually, the minotaur was sexier than the centaur. It had the lower body of a bull, upper torso of a man with horns, and I believe a mane.

Sounds more like a Bucentaur than a Minotaur.

It wasn't a traditional Minotaur, but that was the illustration that the book had for the minotaur. Not accurate, but certainly hot!

Well, not having seen the illustration I can’t say.

Though if memory serves me, the description of the Minotaur’s sire went something like “a bull of such beauty” and I have a somewhat left-handed notion that the offspring of two possessing great beauty would be anything but beautiful.

I remember watching this when I was a kid, they have been playing it again on the local retro cartoon network as of late.

They’re actually airing that again!?

They are in my area, every night at 8:00pm even weekends.

That’s wild, what’s the picture and sound quality like?
From what I’ve heard, at least here in the states, the only copies anyone has been able to find are 16mm from public libraries and most are mediocre at best; the stills above for example.
And at least 3 episodes where missing/lost – and there’s a grey area as far as the copyright goes but the general consensus so far is that they have fallen into the public domain.
Granted, the series was bad on a number of levels, but its part of animation/television history.

The quality of what we are seeing up here is better than the screen grabs you posted above which is interesting because its on a specialty channel. The quality makes me think that what their showing up here may have been recorded off the original films, possibly enhanced digitally but it doesn't look HD as it appears to be in the original aspect ratio.

Just for curiosity sake I looked it up, turns out it was produced in Canada so that could have something to do with it, and I did found a couple episodes in 480p on YouTube.
Aspect ratio aside if it was originally shot in 35mm then it could be remastered to digital in HD; would work out to something like 1440x1080 in a 4:3 screen format.
I also hadn’t remembered that they completely F’ed up the anatomy on Newton; especially the leg geometry and fur-transition line – he looks like 2 ballet dancers crammed indo a badly made centaur bib-pant tights.
