Chapter 3

-Five months ago-

As the sun was setting on Domino City, Yugi was running as fast as he could on the path to his home from school, and the festival that they had. "Oh, man! Oh, man, Oh, man!" Yugi said. "I'm so late! My parents and my brother are gonna kill me!" As he went up onto the bridge, he stopped when he spotted Marik standing on the edge of the railing with his arms spread wide, and ready to drop to the bottom. His face was filled with dread and despair. Yugi's eyes widened at the sight as he said "Hey, you!" Marik looked at Yugi who said "Yeah, you! I'm talking to you! Don't do what you are thinking of doing!" "Don't come any closer to me!" Marik said. "Just stay away!" Yugi took a few steps towards Marik as he said "Look, whatever's going on in your life, you gotta get past it, and talk to someone about your problems! Killing yourself won't fix anything. Just, take my hand, and climb over the railing. Ok?" Marik looked at him, then down below the bridge. Then, he looked at Yugi, and took his offered hand. Then, as Yugi pulled Marik back, he climbed over the railing. Yugi smiled, and said "That's better." He looked at the watch, and said "Oh no! I'm late! I gotta go! See ya!" He then ran off as Marik stared at him while blushing.

-Present day-

"And since then, I had been following you." Marik said. "I even transfered into your school, dyed my hair, and wore eye contacts so that you would not recongnize me. You saved my life that day. And that is why I am saving yours." "But, I don't need saving!" Yugi said. "Don't need saving?" Marik asked. "Then, tell me something, where did you get the bruise on your arm?" He pulled Yugi's sleeve on the right arm, revealing a big bruise on it. "I-I bumped my arm against the door!" Yugi said. Marik then pulled the left pant leg up to reveal a bigger bruise on the calf as he said "What about this one on your leg?" "I tripped, and fell!" Yugi said. Marik raised an eyebrow, and said "Fell?" Yugi nodded, and Marik shook his head, and said "Darling. You are clumsy, but we both know where you got those bruises from. Yugi grimiced as he remember the time that Trudge beaten him up, and threatened him. He never told anyone because he did not want to look weak and pathetic in front of them.

"You have always been so kind." Marik said. "And people do take advantage of that." "What did you do to him?!" Yugi asked. "I simply pushed him onto a moving train." Marik said. Yugi gulped as he said "You-You killed him?!" "Yes." Marik said. "Because I saw him hurting you. And I simply could not tolerate it." "What about the parents?" Yugi asked. "Oh, your parents?" Marik asked. "They're fine." "No!" Yugi said. "I'm talking about your parents!" "Oh, my parents?" Marik asked. Yugi nodded as Marik said "They died. Killed in a car accident." "Oh, I-I'm sorry." Yugi said. "I didn't know." Marik nodded, and said "It's fine. My brother, Odion, and my sister Ishizu did their best to take care of me." "Where are they now?" Yugi asked. "Oh, they're in jail serving my sentence." "WHAT?!" Yugi asked in shock. "How could you do that to them?!" "Well, I could not let them get in the way of my chances of being with you, so I had them framed for killing Trudge. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to take care of a few loose ends. I love you, sweetheart." As he started to leave the basement, Yugi said "No, please don't! Let me go! I'm begging you! Marik! MARIK!" But, it was no use. Marik then walked out the basement, and closed the door.
