Goldfinch visitor
I have a black oil sunflower seed feeder outside my window, mainly for the chickadees, cardinals and various woodpeckers.
Especially for the chickadees. Aggressive little boogers they are at this feeder.
But just now I caught a flash of yellow, and for the first time in years I've seen a Goldfinch. Shortly before I snapped this shot there were two Goldfinches at the feeder. But one spotted my camera and flew off. Immediately after I snapped this shot, this bird flew off as well.

Years ago I had a pet canary, and it was in the cage outside getting some fresh spring air. And a Goldfinch went up to the cage and challenged the caged bird to a fight. The canary just belted out in song in defiance. Oddly both birds were roughly the same size and shape. And technically both are in the finch family.
Great photo. My stepmom gets those Gold Finches in her yard a lot - 3 feeders - 2 big ones with mixed seed and one for thistle seed. Looks like an old Disney Animated in her yard with the addition of some rather fat lizards. She still uses the Deutche word for Finch - Fink. I have to keep from grinning when she says there are Finks at the feeder.
I've only seen one once here in central Washington, I forget the specifics. Have seen at least a couple species of woodpecker, one or two kinds of owls, the occasional quail, and in recent years, bluebirds!
My, but those bluebirds can be raucous! XD Crows are finally returning to the immediate area, no idea why they vanished for a few years.
