there are a lot of sonic characters in my [less reputable] galleries considering that I have partaken very little of the associated media, so here is something roughly based on a character from a 1990s series that I played quite a bit of at various points. I could very easily have made this into an accurate, eyelash-less pants-wearing rocket knight but that isn't what I do around here.

It was released when I was tennish years old amidst perhaps my peak video game playing period and I had relatively few options at the rental place which by chance acquired a copy so there is nothing special about my awareness of it! However I do continue to appreciate it and indeed have its music among the soundtracks that I listen to while driving an automobile.
I think I got mine either off ebay, in some used game store, or a flea market. All I know is, no manual came with it. Hell of a fun game.
That said, I'll always remember Sparkster as that one mascot my friend had a raging crush on as a teen, to the point where he wrote porno fanfic. XD

Fortunately it is simple enough to figure out without instructions; the paths are linear, there isn't any power-up system and unusual for a konami game of the era you aren't significant;y disadvantaged if you lose a life in a later level.
I know the copy I rented had a manual, at least the first time, since I was conscious of what the characters were called, even though in-game they aren't called anything. I became obsessed with the name "axel gear" but never developed an emotional attachment.

Yeah. It's kind of amazing how well the game subconsciously trains you to pick up on things like rocket boosting without explicit instruction.
What's funny is, as I check now, the back of the box tells us the plot and mentions everyone but the princess's names, but I don't remember ever bothering to read it. For a long time, Sparkster was just "that mouse-thing from Rocket Knight" to me. Hell, RKA and the first stage or so of the Sega Sparkster are the only games in that series I've played.
