Im not sure if id consider that a rocket, but it is a epically sweet ride. I almost bought a 1971 MGB from my flight instructor for $1200 with all the restoration parts for it, but I passed it up because i found the floor pans were rusted out. Boo. Plus i already have too many projects to play around with. I hope you get her on the road soon. Im sure she'll be a blast.
It was a great dream of mine once too, at the worst thing I that I got to sit on it and drive it for a short distance while it was towed with a rope on a side road... I literally felt even more in love with the little roadster though the summer following the winter I bought it, and tell me it has been quite an adventure to get it back to were I live during winter, I discovered that the frame was completely rusted from the inside, so it didn't appear visible on the outside... I left it sleep for another winter to discover that a vermin infestation ruined a good part of the interior, except for the driver's seat... Also, due to financial issues I cannot afford all the new parts it would require, including a new frame.
Hehehe, I had a car like that, my first nice car... I always had troubles with it and it was costing me thousands to get it fixed all the time but after a while it was mostly all new and I managed to make over 270.000 miles with it in 5 years. It was a 1978 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency and I still have it... Didn't made it run since almost 3 years though.
Nice car but i can top it we got a porsche 944 in the shop last year and it was in brilliant condition except for the radiator we put one of the newbies on it and he managed to fuck it up so much we couldnt repair it i was like "it was a radiator how can you fuck it up!" my tutor had to replace the whole engine before it could even start.
Haha you should see it now my tutor let me take it out for a spin when i got my test the thing flies most of it is original. But that car on a country road is just the best thing ever the top down foot down to the floor.
It feels better when you drive a car that you've helped restore
