Hearts was sitting on his phone, his back turned, as Duke walked up with his camera. Duke held up his sign and prepared to take a picture.
Just before the shutter clicked, Hearts turned his head.
“What? You wanted to avoid my front in the picture?” He asked teasingly. He then noticed the paper. “What’s that?”
Duke pulled the page away as Hearts made a grab for it. “Nothing. It’s nothing.”
Hearts didn’t get a very good look, but he could tell something was written there. “Come on, what’s it say?” He crawled closer to make another grab for the page.
“Nothing,” Duke said, standing and putting his phone in his pocket, “It says nothing!” He held the page as high as he could, holding it well away from Hearts.
“I can see that it says something.” Hearts stood up as well and jumped in an attempt to reach the page. “Just show me!”
“No.” Duke continued to hold the page up high.
Hearts huffed, then switched tactics. He wrapped his paws around his boyfriend and tried climbing him the way he would a tree. It worked better than Duke was expecting, and Hearts snatched the paper and read it, sitting on Duke’s shoulders.
“I do not,” he protested after reading it quickly.
“Yes you do. You were wearing one of mine yesterday.”
Hearts bent backwards, so he was upside down on Duke’s back, with his legs around the panda’s neck. He reached for Duke’s phone.
“Come on, delete the photo.”
“No, it’s funny.” Duke clutched his phone to his chest.
“Fine.” Hearts thought a moment. “But then I get to take one of you. And you don’t get to see what the sign says.”
“Fine.” Duke said, setting Hearts down.
