Cobb did say that they where very distrusting of outsiders in the first comic. Might be that pack mentality, he wasn’t born in their pack so they mistreat him

With the expression on the captain's face, as well as how nervous he looks with that stutter, it gives me the impression he did NOT insure all was even.

Page 2 last panel, Codd’s bow looks to be made of a different wood or off color by age. The wolf next to him is eyeing Codd like he is expecting something to happen.

now, i will own that it is possible, captain did not witness cobb's bow's malfunction: captain had several pups' targets to keep his eye on ..... and if it is as captain stated: captain had no reason to be on the lookout for sabotage

it is not currently known if captain was the only furson who'd handled the prospects' armament, up through the time of delivery to the individual wolvelets.

because if he was... ...well, i reckon it don't look too good for him.
if he had a problem with an outsider asking to enlist, captain (as an adult, with ostensive superior physical prowess, in comparison to this iteration of cobb) needed only reject him.

right?
