Willy's Northern Comfort: Italian Sausage Gravy
The biscuits used here are Pillsbury Grands. However, a recipe for Biscuits is known, and I will post it eventually!
This is a simple 6-ingredient gravy that includes:
1/2-ish package of Italian Sausage (I think spicy will be better for this, but I had a lot of mild, so I used that)
3/4 cup Bacon fat (1/2 stick butter works as a good substitute
White Flour (about 3/4 cup)
Whole Milk
Two leaves basil
Salt
1--Cook the sausage on medium heat
2--Add the bacon fat and let it melt
2.5-- turn off the heat. You do not want to burn the flour!
3--Add the flour and mix it in with the bacon fat.
4--Slowly add milk to determine the thickness you desire.
5--chop up basil (or just rip it up with your hands, like I did)
6--Pour that good gravy over your biscuits, and enjoy
CHEFS TIPS
