Mace, Namah, and Whip striking a pose for one of our two upcoming DK posters. The final posters will be 11x17 in size, and will include that new-fangled flashy feature, color.
With Namah’s pose being a bit more extroverted than the others, I should probably add that she’s doing more than Riverdance: In the final image, she’s wielding her trademark ether-tendrils, because, why not?
In additional pose-commentary, I really like how Whip came out in this one. I know he’s frequently drawn flying here and there, but it looks like he’s really booking in this one. This is the first time I’ve finished a sketch of him and felt bad, because it looks like so much fun and I know I can never do it.
Unless, that is, the slingshot factory begins taking my proposals seriously.
The fools.

They definitely should be - I'm hoping to print off a batch within the next month or so, the art is already done.
Ah, Whip's tail... For anyone glorifying my talent, yet another sign of my crushing human fickleness. While it's been fun having Whip's tail be the precise length of 'This looks good here', I really need to nail that down at some point.
I think I want the 'final' length to be longer rather than shorter- it looks good long.

I like this.
Namah is the queen of badass poses. It sure would be great to see Whip doing some serious aerial maneuvers -- Maybe someday. And Mace...I just had a thought.
You know how in a lot of anime, the opening credits sometimes show the main characters falling for a long time? Mace's pose there would be perfect for that kinda thing.
Anyways. Like the other, I CAN'T WAIT to see this baby finished. YEAH.
I'm so glad we're getting more art from you and Liz~! Yay~!

I was re-reading the Dreamkeepers novels recently, and this may be just me reading a little too much into things, but...I think I detect an undercurrent of Namah having a possible romantic interest in Mace. It's a bit hidden in all the scrapes that Mace, Whip, Namah, and Lilith have had to deal with, but some of the cues are there. Most notably Namah's annoyance that Mace seems to have eyes for Lilith, though that could be just her normal attitude shining through.
I hate to read to much into it, though. I've always kinda hated that about school growing up, when teachers would read or have you read about a story or a poem, and then give detailed accounts of what it meant without actually having it verified by the author itself. Sometimes the imagery of a hawk on a tree ISN'T indicative of the eye of nature watching us all from on high, ready to deal out savage unrelenting fury onto weaker beings below; sometimes it's just a hawk on a tree.

LOL I'm glad someone else thinks this!
Mace and Namah's personalities mix together well, and as foreshadowed in Book 1, they make a pretty awesome team. Alternatively, Mace seems to only like- no, worship Lilith because she's beautiful and kind. If you read too closely into it, it's almost as if Lilith fulfills a sort of motherly role for Mace... Either way, my bet is that Lillie is planning from the beginning to have Mace and Namah end up together, but only after Mace has matured enough to realize him and Lilith won't work out.
That is, unless Lillie has another character that will come in later that Mace will fall in love with, but where's the fun in that?

It's very easy to root for Mace and Lilith to get together, given that Mace is the main character and that Lilith is such a kind and hospitable character. There's also a lot of potential interest in there being a love triangle with Mace, Lilith, and Bast. However, I have to admit, I like Namah. She has a history of being pushed to the wayside (if you look at the webcomic history), and having to act out to receive attention. For that, I can sympathize with her quite a bit. She's mischievous, without being malicious, and has a good heart deep down. And Namah and Mace do get along. Although it seems like Namah can make him do whatever she wants by knowing what buttons to push, which would make for an interesting relationship.
Another love interest for Mace...I suppose there could be someone like Vi, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
