The art grind was getting to me and things started to look like poop. I took a few days off from art and put this together; for fun. Also, I now have something to link people to when they ask this incredibly redundant question, so be prepared to be linked here whenever you ask me FROM NOW ON. I will tell you the actual answer when the time is right, but until then leave here believing this is where Synxes come from.
P.S. This is a windows game called MKF that is currently in development

The Synx reminds me about a seagull in the two first panels. They too sometimes pulls their necks down "into" their bodies and just stands there.
I think you would have done it quite well in the video game industry. You would have blown the players minds away, maybe turning some of them insane too.

So they either come:
- From Woodman
- From Mushroom Kingdom
- From that brown skull that is still having some flesh left
- They just appear randomly out from nowhere?
Now it's your turn, fill up the extremely precise and simple answer here to make people understand! 8l

HAHAHAHA, Synx. I -love- the blue thing it puts on. That's stupidly cute.
Also, I found this for you RE: hagfish --> http://fukung.net/v/25945/c0b570094.....0466af42e9.jpg
I've been saving that for reference.

Coolio!
Aside from that, I do have one more question about Synxes though. What is the purpose of their horns? The horns are the only aspect of them that bugs me from a functional standpoint, since horns serve one of three purposes, none of which suit Synxes. They cannot charge with no skeleton to support it, they can't use them for thermoregulation since they are cold-blooded, and they cannot use them for displays since they are asexual/solitary. Are the horns perhaps used like the spade shape of an arrow head, to discourage pulling thrm back out once they crawled into a wound, since the horns would dig into the flesh and cause major injury?

First off I should point out that the "horns" they have are actually more like big fingernails. They look and feel like horns on the outside, but they are considerably lighter and less solid feeling. If you apply enough force, you can even break them in half with bare hands. The modern purpose of these horns is to serve as a counterbalance. A synx head is, for all intents and purposes, a floppy meat sock with teeth, almost entirely hollow. The tongue is really the only thing that allows a synx to keep that solid and consistent shape all their heads have, because once it flops out of their jaws it is only a matter of time before the rest of the head starts to deform.
This causes problems though, because that means most of the weight of a synx head leans toward the front of their jaws. To stop their faces from drooping forward or always looking down, the horn weight balances it out. In other words, it stops their head from becoming a wrecking ball and instead makes it operate more like a crane.
I should also point out that synx were once beaked animals; a trait that is still visible on their young. The reason why I bring this up is because it's all the same part; their horns originally evolved from their beaks, and they still technically do since that's where the horns come from still.

I hoped that helped =)
