It doesn’t take much for nature to begin encroaching on land previously taken from it, and that goes just as much for railway lines. It begins as little shoots of grass, which then grow and grow, and provide safety for the shoots of other plants to grow. Nature always finds a way, and yet there are tell-tale signs which show that this line is still in use. You’ll notice the sheen on the tracks that disappear into the bottom of the shot, kept that way by the trains which run over them frequently (the sheen on the rails on the London Underground can be blinding, let me tell you). And while the pole with a ‘5’ stuck on top is the most prominent sign in this picture, you can also see a more modern speed restriction sign in the distance, just under the semaphore signal.

There are groups that fit their cars with special wheels and follow old tracks to where ever they lead. Sometimes they hook into live lines and they get surprised meeting trains running the same line!
It would be fun to do that to one of these!
Excellent photo's as always! Thank you for sharing. :D

I think I remember seeing that on an episode of the original Top Gear, yes! And I agree; I'd love to plonk one of those vehicles on a line in North Yorkshire or Mid Wales and watch the countryside go by. :)
My pleasure! Thank you, as always, for your kind support. ^__^
