One thing that may have taken you by surprise is that I intentionally drew them horrific. I based
the philosophy off the book “The Things They Carry” a book about the soldiers in the Vietnam war
by Tim O’Brien. The book is based on true events but every part of it was fabricated, because the
author realized that telling the story as it happened sacrificed the emotional impact, because it
didnt translate to something we could understand and feel. Hence why I made everything
grotesque and horrific.
