Most insects that carry stingers are SINGLE USE ONLY. We'll use a honey bee as a example, when the bee stings a human being or other creatures the bee's stinger will detach from the honey bee's body. Once the stinger detaches from the bee, it's OWN stinger not only causes damage to the target but also does damage to the bee - The recoil damage is the bee's OWN LIFE: The detached stinger will KILL the bee.
Actually, no. I literally just looked this up last night while watching Virmir stream drawing this. Honey bees are the aberration; all other stinging insects can sting repeatedly. And honey bees only die when they sting mammals because the barbed hook catches on mammalian skin. Against other creatures it doesn't. Honey bees use their stingers mostly against invading insects and they can sting other insects over and over again without dying. But sting a mammal (like a human) even once and it hooks in and pulls all their organs out when they try to fly away.
Had no idea this was the case before now.
